I like buttered toast chopped up as soldiers with a couple of boiled eggs, and then washed down with a cup of coffee. Or buttered and spread with Mackay's Seedless Bramble Jam. Yum!
Toast done over a coal fire is absolute heaven... electric toaster stuff doesn't even come close. The only bright spot of the power cuts in the early 70's was that we reverted to cooking on an open fire... a mug of tea and a full English done that way is unbelievable.
Never been a huge fan of the ones in tomato sauce, but tinned fish on toast is one of my very favourite things. Fun fact: I've never actually owned a toaster (since leaving my parents' house) - just always used the grill. Feels like one of the more pointless appliances to me.
Why is it when you toast a slice of bread, butter it, and accidentally drop it on the floor it always lands buttered side to the ground, But it could be too much of a scientific question
The greasy butter side decreases gravitational friction & aids aerodynamic propulsion. It's a lubrication thing, as opposed to dry etc...
When I was at uni an electronics lecturer used a slice of buttered toast to prove Murphy's Law, an important law in electronics. Whichever way it landed, it proved the law perfectly!
Brown for first course, white for pudding. Brown is savoury, white's the treat. Of course I'm the one who's laughing because I actually love brown toast.
