Ok I'll make the situation financial. Should the club go under while Iseka starts on the meat counter at Tesco's.

Not at all mate, it didn't come across that way at all. I understand what you're meaning. If it looks like he can't be bothered and doesn't apply himself week in week out in training, especially after last season, and he gets picked, imagine what the players who do work their nads off in training think. It's a little different when you're a world class player, Ozil, Messi, Best etc because it's undeniable they will affect the outcome of the game. Can't be said about Iseka... yet ;)

We won't sell iseka for a profit no matter if he rots in the reserves like he deserves or if he's wanked off on the half way line every Saturday at 3pm. His attitude to his job ensures that he will not be sold for a profit so how does playing him stop the club going under somehow?

Cheers mate. I think deep down behind the bravado I want to see the best in everyone. Iseka might be a lost cause.

More than that after what Conway did. I probably want the club to save face.

I'm bailing but I'd like to see the club I love receive some recompense.

What do you mean "isn't in your makeup"? It's not a genetic or physical quality like lack of pace - every player has it "in their makeup" to give a toss and try.

If you play him you send a message to the rest of the team that it's OK to half arse it. I'd rather have him rot in the reserves than promote that ethos.

I get where you're coming from and so would I but there are lots of unrealistic things I'd like.

The YP article last week seemed to imply that Duff had made it quite clear that Iseka wasn’t “ in his immediate plans” and the ball was now firmly in his court as to whether he was to leave or remain without any game time

Wonder what managers would make of players like Craig Hignett now. He wasn’t interested in battling with people but my good get him the ball in the final 3rd and he could make something happen.

Wasn’t a slacker in training though was he? Someone the squad looked up to. I always felt he put a shift in as well.

Correct. Glavin wasn't a poor trainer, either.

A lot more players tossed it off 20 years ago than do now. The general standard of fitness these days is much, much higher and so if you don't put the effort in you're much more of a liability. Luxury players are largely a thing of the past as a result.

Back then everyone liked a kebab. The peppers, chilli's and onions were three of your five a day :D.

When did Iseka suddenly become a good player but just a bit lazy? I saw him play last season and in most games it wasn't the laziness that bothered me, it was the crapness.

It would be interesting to see and compare performance stats from our players like Hignett and Glavin, with todays team.
I mean for ground covered and tackles made etc.
As you say, fitness levels are higher etc

Players back then weren't knuckle dragging Neanderthals! The likes of Hignett & Glavin would certainly have to be fitter to play in the modern game, but to insist they wouldn't be capable is just plain daft!

I agree, I wasn't suggesting that they tossed it off, and whilst I'm too young to have seen Ronnie (sadly), my memories of Higgy were that he always put the effort in. I wasn't meaning to comment on Higgy specifically, just to say that if you don't have the graft these days you're more of a liability than you would have been 20 years ago.

I don’t think anyone has said they wouldn’t be capable.
Perhaps they weren’t expected to contribute defensively particularly
