It is THE definative image of Oakwell

Hope the club could build something to replace it which echoes its design, perhaps a little bigger, with more comfortable seats, better facilities and no stantions! with all seats covered!!

RE: Why not do Fulham... and restore it. It adds character and...

.....uniqueness to an otherwise bland ground. There is plenty of scope for increasing capacity if it is ever needed by filling in the 3 vacant corners. It should be possible for a creative architect to come up with something that would tie the whole thing together and 'link' the North and South stands to the West stand;. It's not like we will ever be a Chelsea or Manure and need 50-60k+ capacity stadium

    I agree in principle

But a new roof needs to cover all seating and I think there's not much really to restore. A stand with similar design features, retaining the central "gable" but filling in the corners and linking the stands woould be my ideal solution.

    RE: err.......

....in the same style but bigger no stanchions (same footprint) AND covering all seats you say. Don't see how that would be possible without cantilevering which would definitely not be in the same style

It is but you still cannot have a pitched roof covering the upper and lower tiers in the same style as now without either stanchions to support it or cantilevering it which would be completely different from the current style. Its like taking the front wall away from a row of terraced houses and expecting the rear wall and both end walls to keep the roof up. Cantilevering it would enable the footprint to stay within the confines of the ground perimeter but would mean a modern style stand like the other three sides. That would also mean demolishing the current stand and I said it would be good to restore it.

Doesn't swillsbro have a pitched roof that covers all seating?

maybe some small stantions in the upper tier but the main portion is partially cantelevered?

A large truss at the apex could solve the problem though would have to be supported at the ends

I think something could be doone to design a stand that retains the feel of the original.
