Apart from big break. We should just pretend that was someone else called David Jimson and allow it.

No one is getting rid of history:

    Fun quiz:

Were you aware of Colston this time last week?

Well done if you were and you're not from Bristol.

But for most of us, the removal of the statue has given us a history lesson. Exactly the opposite of 'getting rid of history'.

Suspect his comparison was used intentionally to wind people up. Still bad taste though for the sake of some attention.

Is disagreeing with the policies of the Israeli government anti semitic?
It's answerable with yes or no but i suspect you won't.

What about when the high profile black people used white make up to make themselves appear white could that not be classed as racism as well
Think it was something to do with the election in 2015

I want to see Austin Powers removed from all future broadcasts because of its shockingly racist and outdated depictions of Scottish people. Times have changed and we need to do better as a society.

He knew members of his party were anti sematic and chose not to do anything some of his party members resigned over that and he still wouldn’t acknowledge that there was a problem within the Labour Party

Lets try another tack. So your kids been bullied for their whole life. Eventually having told the bullies how they were feeling, telling the teacher, telling you they retaliate slightly as it gets too much. But all the focus is on the retaliation not the suff that went on before or the stuff that is still going on. How would you then feel?

I was just asking the question if it’s racist for a white man to makes himself up to appear black is it the same if a black person make themselves up to appear white

Only on the BBS could a thread about racism be turned into a BUT CORBYN argument.

    It's absurd.

No. Because historically white and pale is beautiful The imitation was not for poking fun but to be seen like the ruling race. It is really relatively recently where black men and women have embraced their own natural features.

HBO Max removed "Gone With the Wind" from its platform amid growing concerns about racial injustice.

Paramount have cancelled the long running reality show "Cops"

Which is why, in a previous post, I argued that the statue should be 'saved' but placed somewhere that changes the context of it's existence. As with all these statues, they were placed in prominent places to venerate the subject. Rather than destroy, put them in a museum highlighting him/them as an example of an exponent of a horrific and barbaric 'trade' with a history of the slave trade, but, as others have said, do NOT whitewash history. Expunge all ,bad, examples of our past history from our memories and future generations can NEVER learn from them.

For that reason and that reason alone I strongly disapprove of vigilante action like those carried out by activists. Yes, many statues should be removed but it should be done legitimately and therefore believe it IS correct to prosecute these individuals who carried out the illegal act of vandalism with a punishment, non-custodial IMO, big enough to act as a deterrent to others. But where does it all end? It is fair to say that frustration in Council and Govt inaction to remove these blemishes from our town centres that has dragged on for months and years, almost certainly led to the action. Nevertheless, we saw people trying to burn the Union flag at Whitehall and vandalising Churchill's statue. Whatever people think about Churchill, he is a major part of British history and whatever his faults, the things most people remember him for are positive.

What next? Removing / desecrating war memorials simply because they have the inscription 'To the Glorious Dead' because it is considered by some to glorify war and so offends them? How about removing statues of motoring pioneers like Benz or Ford because some blame them for the proliferation of the petrol engine for the environmental issues we have today? What about the entrepreneurs of the cotton mills, rich land owners, coal mines and the railways given the way they grew wealthy whilst mill workers, farm workers, Irish navvies and miners were kept in poverty?

    'Lest we forget'
