Pah ! You're not doing it right We've had about 15* managers & 40* teams since November 1997 * Poetic licence taken with these numbers, but stability hasn't been the watchword at Oakwell for donkey's years.
BTW, if there's anything you wish to add as a post-script that wasn't covered in my questions, feel free to and then I'll add it in for you.
Anfield Has anyone ever been to Anfield? If so, what did you make of it? AND What's been your favourite moment supporting Barnsley?
RE: Anfield Promotion in 97. Playoff final at Wembley, playoff final at Cardiff. Beating Manu... Also in a former life I enjoyed Barnsley winning the FA cup!!
Can you tell us a bit about your history? AND Who's been your favourite player in your time following Barnsley - not necessarily the best?
RE: Anfield Been to Anfield 3 times. In the 80s a League cup quarter final, we took literally thousands night, drewwnil nil and had great memories of the game but not of the locals. Nuff said.</p> Went back in 97, won 1 nil (can we play you every week) enjoyed this much more, was in a pub near the ground (Arkells i think) somebody got shirty with me and her indoors, a big scouse came to our rescue, not sure he would have if i wasnt accompanied by a female.</p> Juventus Liverpool as a guest from work, full works nosebag the lot, met loads of players, ex players, a night to remember even for a neutral, especially in Angels afterwards </p> Will be there on Setdi, meeting two lads who i work with, both Liverpudlians, should be a good laugh.</p> My view, like anywhere else, look for it, you get it, sometimes you dont look for it, and still cop an unfortunate one.Thats watching football ANYWHERE in England.(pint) (pint) (pint) (pint) </p>
My history...well...lol. Oh a point to note..Barnsley have played more seasons in the 2nd tier of English footballl than any other club...and we won the FA cup the year the Titannic sunk!!
RE: Anfield Beating Man City in League Cup in the 80's Lost to some nondescript team in't Quarters. Forget their name now. Seriously, my favourite moment has to be beating Swansea at Cardiff in the play-off final. Never been to Anfield, so looking forward to the day.
RE: Anfield Been to Anfield once in 1997. Ashely Ward scored the only goal in a 1-0 win. That is one of my best memories supporting Barnsley. The other great memories include: - play off finals vs Ipswich (we lost) and Swansea (we won); - Home game vs Bradford when we won promotion to the Premier League; - Beating Man Utd and Tottenham in the FA cup in 1997; - Beating Sheffield United 1-0 away in the 1996 promotion season; - Leicester at home last season when we knew Leeds were getting relegated; - Travelling to Edinburgh to watch a pre-season friendly against Hibs in 1997. There are others but I won't bore you.
RE: Anfield never been to anfield, but been to Liverpool .got some top scouse Liverpool supporters as friends.,salt of the earth. top moment - beating man u fa cup. beating Totenham in the cup. watching Liverpool on telly winning champions league.winning play off final at millenium stadium ,but also winning against Huddersfield at there stadium in play off semis (played better than in the final).
Do you really have to use such racist and defamatory comments? Look into the eyes, the eyes, look into the eyes! (clown) </p>
OK. Thanks for the replies lads. You can see the finished product here: http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=211224.0 As I said, if you signed up to talk about the game, I'm sure you'd be most welcome.
How has the season been shaping up for you so far? Had it's ups & downs, but on the whole a season in mid-table is exactly what the club needed ath this stage What are your expectations for this season? Have they changed from day one? To finish the same number of points from both the play off positions and the relegation places, oh and put one over the Dee-Dahs. What are strengths and weaknesses so I can forward the information onto Rafa? Strengths - Good at home Weaknesses - Crap away (bad weakness considering where tha game is being played) What do you know of us? Who will you fear most? Thieves, Harry Enfield-esque characters with a tendancy for self pity. I fear the walk back to the car if we manage a result (still have nighmares about this part from '82) What sort of line-up will be put out against us? 10-0-0 formation hoping for a replay (see above for strengths/weaknesses) Do you have any favourite/best chant(s) and perhaps any that require an explanation? Please leave my car alone, please leave my car alone City of culture my arse (not thought of a tune yet!) Predictions for the season - where will Liverpool finish, where will Barnsley finish? Liverpool - 5th (unlucky!) Barnsley - 13th (bang on target) Having low expectations can make for a happy life! And, finally, care to predict the score? 3-0 to your lot (so I can confidently predict a safe walk back to my car)
