I can’t speak for anyone else here, but for me it’s absolutely nothing to do with social distancing, it is simply that I have found near enough 90% of Liverpool fans I have met to be utterly insufferable bells.
Living amongst them as I do I find the majority to be OK- have a decent conversation about football with them and they are genuinely interested and appreciative of me being a season ticket holder at Oakwell. There is an element like at any club - those last night were a disgrace though
I find it weird mate, at uni I lived with two absolutely sound Everton ST holders. Maybe I’ve been unlucky!
I don’t dispute the fact that Yorkshire is a fantastic county - the best in fact. It’s just this “God’s own” b0llox that is re-hashed time after time. Who decided? God? Jesus? The Church of England? Why do people who don’t believe in God spouting this rubbish. My point was it’s just one of those throw away meaningless statements that makes me cringe. Same as “England by birth, Yorkshire by the grace of God.” Doesn’t matter if you believe in God or not - it’s just meaningless nonsense spouted on Facebook. Liverpool - the most knowledgable football fans in the world.... Who decided? John Motson? Pele? Fifa?
Majority are fine - one of my best mates is an Everton season ticket holder and looks down on smaller clubs - thinks Everton have a god given right to be in the top league. Had a row with him once when he said massive clubs like Wednesday deserve to be in the Premier league above likes of Burnley. No Burnley are there on merit - what happens on the pitch that counts
I'm a atheist and I always just saw the God's own county as a bit of fun nothing more. I mean if you want to get into I think a lot of religious people don't deep down believe in God or they wouldn't be so upset when loved ones die. All religion is just throwaway meaningless cringey nonsense anyway.
Well Kent's the garden of England. Not sure who decided that one either, don't these things kind of evolve?
They are SAYINGS from different Counties i can't understand people getting all worked up about them ,life is far too short !
Life is nothing more than an exercise in getting from cradle to grave in the least unpleasant way possible. If getting worked up is a way of rewardingly passing time then why not go for it? I find a good moan and railing against newfangledness most days very relaxing.
