The pitch (and conditions) are the same for both teams. The idea that it would only affect us is beyond me. Sure we'd play better football on a smoother pitch - but so would the opposition.

If it's isnt watered just prior to the game you're risking injury not to mention burn out, next time you're on holiday go for a jog on the beach start on the dry sand and progress towards the sea slowly and you'll realise why they have water the pitch so heavily before games

What? If you don't water a bit of grass seconds before running on it you will get injured? I will call Barnsley council now and tell them to call off all Sunday league games for safety reasons.

    What utter ********

PS grass isn't the same as sand

The grass is laid on sand you silly billy, Sunday league pitches are laid on soil. Vast difference like I said go run on sand and you'll realise why it's watered just before kick off

So is it only the centre of each had that is laid on sand? I reckon that's why we play without wingers, its dangerous to run near the edge of the pitch made from quicksand isn't it

If you don't want to listen to the reason fine, a question was asked I gave you the answer, maybe you should stop asking questions if you can't accept the answers

He made reference to the fact they heavily watered the pitch just before kick off and I told him the reason why they did, it's because it's laid on sand anyone who as run on dry and wet sand will understand why it's watered

The sand is below the playing surface so doesn't affect the players running on the grass laid on it. I understand the need to water it but its not to prevent injury when the players are on holiday. And I think we over-water it at times but I'm certainly no groundsman so I can't claim to be basing my opinion on knowledge, just the amount of times our plays slip over.

It's not the sand is the playing surface the grass is growing through the sand not soil that's why it's watered

That's what I said, I get the reason why its watered but I don't think it's helping us at all.

And that's probably why negative lee is moaning, should imagine they'll get more sprinklers in summer or lay it on soil, it reaches the penalty area because the bloke from doom fm said he was soaked when he took over the mic on Saturday and he'd been in the area when it got him
