Let's see this time next year. I wanted us to give Danny more patience when many others didn't it doesn't seem like the new head coach is any different to the old manager.
Ain't that the easy option, let's wait and see. You must be happy with Johnson and back him longer term then if you wanted to give Danny more time When clearly it's still Danny's team we see, there won't be much difference. I do agree though that until we get LJ recruiting and playing his team and his formations we will never know if he is any better. My frustration is we haven't even given Johnson a chance to sign any players before we run out of patience.
I will probably be one of the people wanting us to give LJ more time when others are calling for his head. I just don't like us playng 1 up front especially at home.
Me neither, but I struggle to see what options we have right now. No wingers, limited number of strikers
You reap what you sow and all that gets sown on here is dischord and discontent. Most of the psychics on the board have written off next season yet, unless you are a team at the very very top, you will spend at least one part of next season bedding in new players. You reds
I reckon Jennings, Cranie, Mvoto, Hemmings and Lita will all move on... Get in some fresh blood and a good mix of potential and experience... I reckon Ibhere will be on our shortlist and possibly one or two from Oldham. Look at Bradford today and jon Stead very influential. I feel had we have signed him and Carl Baker at the start of this season we would be top 6 without doubt. But our inexperience has shown, and key signings and squad players have been huge dissapointments i.e. Lita, Treacy, Brown, Jennings and Hemmings.
No it isn't. Its just lacking a few key players. I'm making a Sunday roast today but I've just discovered I've got no aunt Bessie's Yorkshires in. According to you I should bin my chicken, potatoes, veg etc and start again. What I'm going to do instead is pop out and get some yorkshires
What a brilliant analogy, old mate. You definitely get a 'Like' from this old bugger! That's more like the Super Tyke I've come to know and love these past years.
Before you nip to the shop i'd double check that veg because i think you'll find its not as good a quality as you first thought. It looks nice on the outside but its got a soft centre.. We've got about 3 or 4 decent players and thats it.
A couple of wingers (hopefully the 2 Wilson set up for us) and a forward or two. More strength in depth. Signed a lot of players last year with a pretty high success rate but the inevitable failures need moving on. We are exactly where I thought we would be in terms of building from ground zero but we have an excellent core. Davies/Nyatanga/Holgate/Scowen/Hourihane/Winnall are all good enough for most teams in our division. Add into that Smith who is a decent player and Bree to come back and you have the basis of an excellent team. Others like Berry still developing may go either way but big changes bringing in players like John and Ibhere just for the sake of it then taking another 6 months to bed them in before the inevitable January sacking.
Can't argue with a lot of that, but I think you're underestimating Cranie's talent. Since we abandoned all that entertaining football malarkey and the midfield actually started protecting the back four, our goals against column has looked pretty good. 8 clean sheets since the turn of the year. Plus a further 8 games where the opposition have only scored one. Concede so few goals and it gives your team every chance of doing very well. Cranie has been a big part of that and proved he can play a very important role in a tight defence. His partnership with Nyatanga looks great to me. As far as better being out there is concerned, I'm sure there are better stoppers, like M'Voto for instance and dozens of others in that mould. But Cranie can do that job very well too and he has the talent to pick a pass. I very much doubt there are any central defenders that we could afford who can play football like Cranie and be equally comfortable marking a big League 1 centre forward or a nippy little striker. Afford could well be the key word. Cranie would be top of my list when offering new contracts. However, it would be on significantly less money than he currently enjoys as he's still on a Championship contract. We have a new wage structure and although his experience and time at the club would mean he'd still be one of the top earners, it would be a wage comparable to the rest of the squad. If he was prepared to accept that, fantastic, sign him up. If not, I'd wish him all the best for the future. But I really hope we make an effort to keep him, even if it turns out we can't agree terms.
Pretty low success rate with out field players signed by Wilson hence another big influx of players needed.. If it wasn't for Bree , Holgate and Smith coming through it would need to be practically a full rebuild again.
