Hang on a minute. You've just said it's harsh to judge Hammill on the previous two games against teams that have just come down from the Prem then asked for evidence of Barnes' contribution on exactly the same games. For what it's worth I think Hammil's workrate has been superb this year and he's contributed going forward. Barnes has possibly done more going forward but doesn't appear to get stuck in as much. Who is the better option? Not sure. Will be nice to see what Isgrove can bring to the table though.
I’ve just asked what he did in those games if it’s acceptable to judge Hammill ONLY on them. Agree it’ll be nice to have another option in Isgrove and I’d rather play out players where possible
I agree that Hamill has run himself daft for the team. More then Barnes has. Barnes is more likely to score. He does what Hamill seems to largely do at Wembley. I think both suffer from lacking a presence up front. Winnall was crap in build up play but he was a striker. We're still missing that.
I personally think that Hammel has been very good this season & brings that much needed experience to the team , for me , he should be the first name on the sheet
Well, I guess Isgrove will start to get opportunities now. I'd like to see our players in the team too but, for now, Barnes has a fairly good claim in terms of goals and assists.
I think that Hammill has really stepped us this season to assume the mantle as senior pro and talisman following the January/summer exodus. That being said, I can't remember the last time that we had four out and out wide men of genuine quality at our disposal and that can only be a good thing for the club and for each player as they'll be pushed week in week out. We've got the makings of a cracking squad, let's just hope that we're still sound come January and hopefully we can strengthen in one or two areas to push on.
Think he's done ok, just been a bit disappointed with his end product recently. Needs to release the ball earlier in my opinion. Good to have options though with him, isgrove, barnes and hedges all challenging for a place.
The reason we are not seeing the best of ANY of our wingers is because Barnsley dosent pose an aerial threat. That's because the club failed in the summer to bring in differing strikers that would provide options. Imagine this - a tall mobile striker that's a good header of the ball - both Hammill and Barnes whipping crosses into the box - and Bradshaw buzzing around the box looking for any pickings. But we just haven't got that because we haven't got that tall striker. Which by the way ..... all other club in the Championship have got. The club failed in the summer - and because of this we are not seeing the best of the players we currently have - it's as simple as that.
Bloody lovely to see izzy back. Tricky and persistent with a tremendous work ethic. A must start if fit. I wouldn't have started with Harvey. I'd have taken him off at half time What do i know?
Agree 100 per cent with this. If we had a talk striker who could win headers & hold up the ball we'd be a lot better side than we are now, especially with the players we have capable of breaking from midfield.
