Winkler has said a few times in press conferences that Isgrove and Fryers were not injured just not selected. No complaints from me. Full of energy and enthusiasm but Thiam / Potts / Brown all a bigger goal threat
How many times has he been interviewed this season in which he could have said he was fit? Can you point me in the direction of one of these interviews? In this interview he seems the opposite of bitter. He accepts the manager's decision and says being left out of the team is part and parcel of football. I think Stendel has got this wrong and he should have been in the squad, but that's my personal preference about a player. Allowing a fit Lloyd Isgrove out on loan to a team above us in the table when we're hoping to over take that team, when this player has helped promote a team from this division previously, that's a very bad decision.
If he went round giving interviews saying he was fit when here and not picked it would have been undermining to the manager. It sadly didn't work out for him. Each time he played we didn't see him the next game and many of us assumed he was injured. If it was the case that stendel didn't fancy him so be it ,but it's not isgroves role to go shouting I'm not injured, that would look arrogant like he thought he should be picked For what it's worth, on the one occasion i saw him this year he looked ok, but little end product which was always the issue with him. Hope that continues at pompey.
Complete over-reaction and needless insult to a player who gave everything on the pitch. He's just stating the facts from his viewpoint.
On the basis of that article, my thoughts are that Isgrove has spoken like a gentleman. Unless he's lying. Do you think he is?
