    there's a bit of both.

it cost a lot more to gain a new customer than retain an existing one.

...and also many people stay through long term feelings and the prospect of guilty they might experience at walking away. There is only so long that you can retain customers through negative reinforcement.

RE: The sooner that new website gets on it's feet the better...

I meant the one that the people on here are putting together as opposed to the club one. Sorry - not very clear that! Just feel that sometimes the closer you get to the people who run the club, the more turned off you feel, but when you talk to genuine fans and see the enthusiasm that exits on this board (well sometimes!!) - it's a better experience. I'm really looking forward to that.

There has got to be a way the club

Can avoid fraud when somebody loses their season ticket. Bear in mind that the options are

The ticket will be lost and never used

Some Barsteward will use it to gain access to the matches.

In either case the use of identity reference numbers/bar codes/photos will immediately tell the club whos ticket it is.

If my ticket was for Row F Seat 34 and I lost my ticket and had to either pay for the next match or buy another season ticket. I would head straight for Row F Seat 34 next match to see who the fook was sat in my seat, would you ?

With Modern technoolgy there has to be a cast iron way to avoid fraud.

The way the club has answered London Tykes is disgracefull and I would suggest instead of new signings the club sign an experienced Marketing Manager to handle such problems.

    Barnsley Football Club

does not deserve the fans it has.</p>

Its culture from top to bottom is arrogant, patronising and condescending.</p>

Oasismad, that was exactly our point. This season should you wash your season ticket and it is unrecoverable, you would be expected to pay the full price of a replacement because (quote) "the club cannot be held resposible for your actions" according to our General Manager!

Oh my god I now face legal action for disclosing that!

BTW I ran the clubs letter by a Lawyer who I know well who also acts for Spurs. His comments were unprintable on a public forum, suffice to say he was amazed at the policy & the tone of the letter.

    Ah, but, you see

the threat of legal action if you disclose any of the info contained in their response is supposed to scare you senseless. </p>

    </p>

Trouble is, I see it as a 'We know it will be frowned on and don't want others to know we're completely bonkers'</p>

Cazi, are we both sad trawling the net at 7-30 on a Saturday morning. How are you doing girl!

As you can well imagine the clubs position as got our back up in the big smoke. These temporary gardians of the club we love appear to be stuffing it up big style. BFC should be a community based club focusing on gleaning its principal support from the greater Barnsley area. Yet they seem hell bent on not doing that.

I'm fine mi old love. Unfortunately I'm off to work in a mo, hence why I'm on here at such a ridiculous time on a Saturday morning :D . I agree completely with your sentiments. I really despair at the bad PR that emanates from the club lately. Reight, best get ready for work. Sithee in Soton :)

only thing I can liken it to....

if you draw say £50 from the bank and the same money was pushed through the washing machine and was unrecoverable....

Would the bank replace the 50 quid????

not saying one way or another, but there does seem to be a lack of common sense at the club, but then again, when you put a different context like the above, maybe they aren't so "cruel"....

maybe its down just to the wording.

plus there are other ways around it....

every person who enters the ground with there tickets, must have the full book to present....

now forgive me for being simple, there are individual book numbers on each book, so comon sense to me says put a list of "lost/invalid" book numbers at each entry point (after all there system should say who has what book number), yes it may add a few extra seconds on to each person entering, but at least the "lost/invalid" book numbers won't get entry

    or is that too simple?

yes the bank would replace your washed 50 quid.</p>

You'd have to produce the bits, which the bank would pass on to the Bank of England.</p>

On the other hand, if you lost 50 quid...</p>

I don't think it's like that at all.

£50 is worth exactly £50, a season ticket booklet is worth less than £5, all it is is proof of a contract, nothing more, nothing less. Now if you had somehow managed to lose the contract (ie you lost your season ticket book and then unfortunately logged on to bfc computers accidentally and deleted the records along with going into their filing cabinet and accidentally disposing of your application form signed by both parties then that would be the only situation whereby you have lost the full value of what a ticket represents.

It is why when you get a voucher or a coupon for something it nearly always says on it "value of coupon 0.001p" even if it represents £50 because everybody knows that it isn't actually £50.

I still dont see why we cant just have a barcode system?

would it really cost so much to install? i know lots of other clubs have them. Or is it worth more to the club to save the money and lose more fans and there by lose money for years to come? #</p>

    </p>

So if im mugged and my season ticket is stolen i have to pay for a new one, you have to love the policy of barnsley football club.Really looking after the fans!</p>
