    If ever there was a rule guaranteed to be broken en masse then this is it. Railway tickets and flights will have been bought, meats will have been paid for, and everybody's been looking forward to it for ages now.

    Not sure on where I stand about any potential decision, but changing it this late could end up being calamitous.

    Ah my apologies, you're right it applies to bubbles only. We remain in tier 3 until at least 30th December though so still won't happen I'm afraid.

    I think you're right on this one. And from the limited evidence I've seen down here, people long gave up on listening to government or scientific guidance. And people still don't always wear masks properly and still cant understand how far apart 2 metres is.

    You throw in Christmas, plans already made, cost already incurred.... I think the chances of large amounts of people taking guidance at this time are very low.

    Just me here as well, in Spain. Next door has got her front patio nicely lit up with solar panel Christmas lights. I can't really be bothered with it, to be honest.

    Plenty of people I know can't even grasp the existing three-household rule, and think that they're allowed to do the normal xmas rounds as long as it's on different days.

    I've had to look numerous times just to remind myself what the rules are (though the only time i leave the house is a walk, a prescription and one venture north for a few days of caring duties, so I'm not too sure why I've looked at them several times) and the communication from the government isn't particularly useful. Having said that, the information is easily found.

    A cynic might say the government is well aware that it's going to be broken, and any change in the rules will just be to ensure that they can deny responsibility for any spike...
