Perhaps he was working during the close season - scouting, planning, etc and it was arranged he could go away later. If Duff was still here it wouldn't have been a problem, but his departure (and they won't have said goodbye face to face) threw a spanner in the works.

But the season ticket money is already in the coffers, so no worries! :)

Think it's pretty nailed on he's off? Said his goodbyes to the players from what I've heard.

Nathon Jones, at 16 / 1 for me was too good to not av a dabble, a lot of frustration out there and we got told plans were in place of any eventuality, so i'm sure they had eyeballs on replacements just in case Duff left, i like your views as your very knowledgable on markets, so what would your prediction be Mr Orsenkaht. thankyou.

How many full working days have elapsed since it was announced the manager left? It's 3 isn't it. Three.

Can't see him getting the job. Still being on holiday makes it look more like he's waiting for Swanswa compo to be sorted.

If he went to Swansea he could always come back. Fail here and there's no going back to his old job.

Not heard that term for about 12 months ('jokewell'). Hope we don’t have another season of that being bandied around, people seemed to revel in that gallows humour when the chuckle brothers were aboard the good ship Grove Street :D

Now now Merde, I get the sentiment but shouldn't make light of suicide. Bad taste old boy.

This would be funny if it wasn't true. Sounds like an ideal candidate, not available to work during pre-season, just rock up in August and see how it goes.

I don't think I know more than anyone else Mr Winker! However, this is the way I view it. There doesn't seem much activity (i.e. persons sighted around Oakwell, or the club being stated to be talking to someone). So I think Devaney has almost become favourite by default. He's in situ, has his badges and has put down roots in Barnsley. So a fair guess. He would also probably be the cheaper option, which may appeal to the club. But he hasn't noticeably shortened since yesterday, so as Matoakwell indicated, there may not be much strength in his price. I don't think Big Dazza would fit our profile, and I think Chris Wilder would want more than we will offer. Beyond that, I think it's guesswork. Betvictor clipped Brian Barry Murphy in to 25's yesterday, but I suspect that was probably merely on a couple of mentions on here. I wouldn't disagree with your Jones bet at 16's. He would tick a lot of boxes, so long as we could afford him. And Devaney may of course simply be waiting to get back off holiday before signing a deal with the Swans! So I think I'll be keeping my powder dry for now. I'm wrestling more with whether Sir Mark Prescott is going to win the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle on Saturday!

that's since the news broke isn't it? Apparently the search was ‘ well underway’ before that and I wouldn't think working days comes into these kind of matters.
Not been ages maybe but surely 3 is an over simplification.

Can you tell me why on earth they would release a name linked with the job?
Just lost to a last second goal in the play off final and you can't be arsed. FFS get a grip.

I'm not remotely making light of suicide. If you've read some of my serious posts on here about that topic, you'll know that it's something I've been affected by more times in my life than I'd wish on my worst enemy.

The cartoon I've posted is a character from Viz, which is clearly not meant to be taken remotely seriously.

Sam's permanent state of misery about the whatever happens to be going on at Oakwell is both predictable and amusing. That's what I'm making light of.

I understand. And I get the reference, I have made light of Sam's double relegation predictions in the past. I do worry for his being quick to throw gloom when the chips are down though. As you say, it's just a cartoon :)
