I’m not sure it’s a lack of effort with Palmer. Maybe a combination of lack of confidence and just being smaller and slighter than his opponents. He just seems too tentative when going into 50-50s. If Wolfe has to come off, I’d sooner have either Halme playing a role in front of the back 4, with the instruction to just tackle and clear the ball. Or move someone like Styles or maybe even Quina deeper, given they’ll already be up to the speed of the game.
If anything it’s posts like these that would kill this site, agree or disagree with the content, but to put a spin on it about it being far- left to defend, or criticise a player, is at best bizarre, and at worst an analogy from a thick right- wing angle. Get a grip.
I not saying he’s deffo good enough to play at this level, and I agree it’s not absolutely clear it because of lack of effort. It’s a confidence thing and a lack of game time that massively contributing to his performances,
I dont think its a lack of effort either from him confidence gone like many and not the same player as last season like many for whatever reason. Funny thing criticism vic puts 110% effort in every time he plays and has had a massive amount of stick benson strolls around and people make excuses up for him.
I agree that Palmer gets criticism in some posts, but not bullying. However, in this post: leythtyke - Posts about the squad and Poya defending Palmer. Jay - Posts something about COVID. rycalshaw - Posts about about Reading's depleted squad. I post about Reading getting a new free agent. I post asking what Poya said about Palmer. You post about bullying Palmer and are the first to bring this up in this thread.
Anyone who thinks a professional footballer ‘doesn’t try’ is difficult to have a logical conversation with as they clearly don’t have a clue. i could give you a very long list of youth team players. It’s the Nicky Eaden syndrome it it’s impacted players like Jacob Brown for example.
him and Wolfe are different sorts of players. At the minute we don’t play a system that would get the best out of Palmer. What I do know is the same people who lionise Wolfe now will be on his back after a couple of games.
Aye that was definitely a thing. Last season he looked what he is a young player having good and bad patches playing with someone who could help him through them. This year he has been poor for the majority of the season playing with equally inexperienced players he has learnt nothing and developed not at all. It’s the downside of ‘the plan’.
I’ve said pretty much the same thing about Palmer and Wolfe being different players, and i agree that we don’t play a system that works for Palmer. Not sure where you got the bullying vibe from, given that you seem to share the same view of the player?
Palmer doesn’t have enough physical aggression for that position. Would be great in a top half team but doesn’t have the attributes our position demands.
