Very odd to make the attendance up. Over 1000 there.

    Very good post.

I just hope the powers that be can rectify it and bring back the old format. And stop premierleague clubs stunting player development in other ways.

Woah! Sorry! Just was going on the commentator who said there were about 200 reds and they seemed to outnumber the Oldham fans. Unbunch your panties. Look at it another way, i was only 500 out in guess the crowd.

    I've thought for years that the Football League Trophy should be done away with and the League Cup should only be open to Football League teams. The Premier League clubs ought to have reneged their right to compete when they left the Football League. Doing this would;

    • Heighten the value of the League Cup, as it would give lower League clubs a decent chance to play at Wembley.
    • Raise the value of the FA Cup as it would be the only other silverware than the league for most Premier League clubs.
    • Lessen the chances of disrespect from teams putting out weakened opposition.
Thing is, even the Football League clubs would vote against this, as no League Cup games would mean less chance of a plumb tie vs Chelsea's 4th team.

Yeah. Great for Moncur. Winning breeds winning and Victor and Moncur on the scoresheet can only be a good thing.

Really please with tonight’s run out.

Can’t believe the commentators made it up.

Joking aside fair play to the 400 reds who went. Good effort for a friendly match.

Good post. I've also thought that the League Cup should be revamped to exclude Premier League teams. Either that or scrapped and the FA Cup made whole again, with replays and a Champions League slot for the winners.

It’s such a simple fix. Imagine how important clubs would take the FA Cup if there was a champions league spot. But that would upset the top 5 clubs out of the whole league system so can’t possibly be done.

Fully agree but no chance I'm afraid. There's always a chance one of the top 6 might slip up in a one off game and let some "likes of" team like Wigan win it. That's not what football's about. It's for the big six to get richer and allow sky and their audience onanate themselves into a frenzy of self congratulation.

Yes I have seen that. No idea why the commentators thought it was so few.

The commentators didn’t say at any point there was below 500. You plucked that from thin air when trying to prove a point.

Haha. Alright pal. The commentators said “about 200 reds and that looks like more than the Home fans”. Hence my comment of less than 500.

Never mind though. Couldn’t really care less.

Overall a really positive night for the reds. Great run out for those that needed it and 2 first teamers on the score sheet.

Winning games can only ever be positive.

Stendel showed his desire to win games in the competition tonight with his final 2 substitutions.

Always good to win. Unless it means more meaningless matches. But yes, pleased we got through without any injuries and sounds like a few of the reserves did well against Oldhams reserves.

fingers crossed we can get past Everton kids and then we may draw Rotherham Ladies in the Yorkshire Group Second Round Checkatrade Eliminator Extraveganza. Expected Crowd less than 500.

Let's go full mental. Only open to the football league clubs, winner gets to play the club who finishes 6th in their league for access to the playoffs. That'll make it interesting

You’ll not be needing a Wembley ticket then?
