That's a absolutely fantastic photo Bossman but you have to be a Reds fan to appreciate it. I'm pretty sure it's not the first image an Estate Agent would have used.
I was thinking the opposite, nowt but a glory hunter lol. Premier League Football 3 play off finals, 2 wins Johnstone's Paint Trophy win Minimum top half of Division 1 In my 35 years of watching us prior to the Prem season, I'd never seen us play at Wembley, reach any final (Apart from the County Cup) and only seen us promoted from the 4th Division twice and the 3rd Division once. We never won a thing. You had it good.
Not a big fan of balloons, but it was nice at the time. And a lovely motd commentary from what’s his name..
It was Lampard's first ever league goal for West Ham against us on the first day of the PL season, however he'd previously scored a league goal whilst on loan for Swansea some 2 season's previous
I might sound odd but I don't look back on our Premiership season fondly at all. I was ridiculed at School for being a Barnsley fan because we got arsoiled most weeks. I missed the golden era 95-00 because I was too young to go to matches. Living in Pontefract it was predominantly Leeds, Liverpool and Man Utd fans. Ironically I didn't start going properly until we were **** so I'm a glutten for punishment
There were a few drubbings in the PL season, notably Chelsea home, Man U away, Arsenal away and West Ham away. However, there weren't many in the 2nd half of the season and lots of narrow defeats. At the end of the day we were only 5 points behind safety and were very unlucky in many games - Wednesday away, Leeds home and away, Blackburn away, Liverpool home, Everton home (draw), Spurs home (draw) just to name a few off the top of my head. On another time we might have been able to stay up if we'd have learnt how to grind out a few draws, but we stuck to our principles and tried to play the game the way it should be played.
The defeats that hurt were Blackburn away, Derby away, Coventry away, Newcastle away, Sheff Wed away, Leeds away because they were all thrown away.
I remember that game because it was similar to the Liverpool game in that we equalised late in the day (Fjortoft?) only to have it snatched near the death.
