LUCA CONNELL BEST PLAYER ON THAT PITCH TONIGHT

I thought Connell played very well. But all our players did. I can't remember when I could last say that. But I genuinely thought they were all 8s and above. Roberts was turned all the way up to 11.

 

Phillips played well, but Roberts was immense. Earl l, Connell, DKD (should've buried the header), Russell, all deserve a mention. You Reds

 

I thought Gent was excellent especially 2nd half

 

Was there a game once when the whole team got man of the match or am I talking nonsense. Sure it was against man city

Gent for me but could have gone for Roberts, Earl or Connell, genuinely think it was a solid performance from the whole team.

Thought Philips was quiet but didn't get much wrong, wouldn't have given him MotM personally.

There were a few cross field passes by Phillips that really stood out on TV. They looked proper international class and had the commentators drooling. I personally thought Roberts was the best player for us (although I thought every single one of them played well) but yeah, can understand why Phillips got the MOTM. His passes were replayed over and over and they were a bit special.

 

Won’t be better passes all season at this level or the championship than that of Phillips tonight. What a difference it makes playing Luca in his actual position!!! getting to his best sat in front of the defence it finally looks like we’ve found a balance in the middle of the park.

 

I think Connell was good overall. But he needs to cut out the daft attempts on goal from 40 yards and the needless fouls.

Yep. Silly. I only watched a glimpse of the replay but looked like it could've been worse than a yellow to me too. Think Craig will be and adequate replacement.

 

Again, something that plenty of us said a few weeks ago. To stop trying to play him as an ‘8’. The lad was in the team of the year two seasons ago as a holding midfielder. Get two ahead of him and let him thrive. Stop asking him to do that job further up.

DC has seen the light on that, on Slonina, Craig and playing forwards closer together. No matter how or why, he’s done it. After a couple of months of football. He’s landing on it. Fair play to him.

Thanks for that. I did miss odd few 5 minutes here and there due to various circumstances like filling folks drinks, sorting snap etc, toilet visit and so forth.

I guess I could quite easily have missed a lot of that TBF. Trust your judgement as well, especially as you generally shouted out from behind me on more than one occasion (normally when the entire stadium was silent) at some abysmal passages of plays over the years lol

 

100% and I think that's the reason why Evans changed it as much as he did, we had so much joy with them. Beautiful passes to Ghent & was always in acres of space. They nullified it second half for large parts but probably the best half of football from Phillips I've seen in a long time

 

I think they only had the one that required a decent stop from Killip using his feet towards the end.

 

Gent attacking 1st half looked brilliant. 2nd half did more defending also looked brilliant..Robbo was huge. Connell best game for ages. DKD on another day could have had 4. unlucky today..Phillips MOM surprised us all.

 

That was a hood save to keep the score at 1 nil. We should have been out of sight before then though.
