I think that's the sort of thing people are seeing and worrying what will happen when we do indeed play better teams. Some people let victories cloud their judgement.
I'm one of them you're referring to, but I didn't mean I was intending to stop posting. I've posted a really interesting thread about the skiing world cup to prove it. I meant "I give up" in the sense that I was gobsmacked at such an extreme negative opinion about a match which we won, had several good chances, hit the bar, had 2 decent penalty shots and were on the wrong end of some dodgy decisions. I've no problem at all with different opinions, but ST's view of the game was well off target, in my opinion of course.
To be fair my view was shared by quite a few people I heard grumbling as I left the stadium, of people I spoke to at half time and of people sat around me. Always amazes me when I come on here and find what appears to be most people having the polar opposite view.
Where do you sit? I sit in the Ponty and most people around me were relieved that we'd got 3 points after not playing too well, but the general opinion was that it was a solid win where they hardly had a chance. I just couldn't see the "chance after chance" that you referred to - in fact, they had the same number of shots as we did. I bumped into a couple of fans later in the Curry Mahal, both of whom said they really enjoyed the game and thought we were good value for the win.
Poorest side? Definitely not. How ve vent in ahead is beyond me, they vere clearly the better team first half. Second vas slightly more even but we got away with it yesterday, if they had a decent striker ve’d have lost.
East stand On a semi related note something I've noticed over the last few years is how people in the Ponty seem to collectively have one opinion of a midfield player and those down the sides (East and west) both have the opposite opinion. I get the feeling it is because of the different view of the game. As for yesterday I thought we were lucky that they couldn't shoot because we gave them a lot of chances (yes the same as us) and imo only very poor finishing didn't let them capitalise on it. Maybe lucky victory is harsh considering we also had more chances but as we didn't take them I consider us fortunate that they also didn't. If they had taken one of their chances like we did it was 1-1.
Still trying to figure out vhat Bahre is on the pitch for. Is he an overactive groundsman? I’ve never seen him doing anything.
Having spent many years in both stands, I've come to the conclusion that the fans in the east stand are more critical, more negative. Many in the Ponty just support the team come what may, and are just happy to get 3 points. Hardly heard a negative comment yesterday, and in fact I got told off a couple of times when I made some. I don't know if that's due to the different view of the game or not, it's just something I've noticed. Anyway, we won.
A win a win all that matters if won every game scrappy one nil n got us promoted fans wouldn't be moaning then our fans are so fickle
It was the sort of game you have to grind out the win in league 1, that's how you get out of the league Bristol weren't a bad side and played some neat football, I thought they were much better than their league position suggests They had some good opportunities but the Reds got good blocks in. We have a young team with varying levels of experience and they will no doubt develop into a very good team indeed. I just hope the players don't read some of the daft comments on here
So we were maybe lucky that they didn’t create and take chances? Yet acknowledge we didn’t take ours. You say above we gave them a lot of chances ( same as us) then go on to write we also had more chances than them? As for the game my feelings are, whilst not playing particularly well for large parts of the game, we ground out a fully deserved win, which could’ve been more emphatic had a couple of very poor refereeing decisions gone our way, and Thiam’s free kick been a tad lower. All this on the back of 2 really disapointing defeats/ performances
We were awful got what we deserved nothing same as at Charlton how ever yesterday not great but sum times have to take scrappy one nil win
