Most of those games (other than Russell) were at no kind of level though. Signing Offord would remind me of the days when we picked up the likes of Hourihane, Winnall, Mawson, Scowen etc. With respect to the 4 current reds you mentioned, they’re not on the same footballing planet as those kind of players. I do have hopes for Lofthouse coming good mind. Im not saying Offord is the answer by the way, I haven’t seen enough of him. I’m just talking about the profile.
I suppose that's true, bud. Probably should have used better examples. Russell, Okeeffe, Earl, Watters maybe. I get what the poster meant, but I just think it's more down to the success of the signing rather than anything else. We signed plenty of duds in the era of Conor, Winnall, etc. I obviously could be wrong but I think we could easily say things differently had we ended the season positively, or even start the new season well. Does this make sense? Agree with Lofthouse, plenty of good reports. Watched him a few times last season and he looked very lively, hopefully he can bring it up to our level!
It does make sense mate yes. Josh Earl is a great example. He is actually that kind of signing I was talking about. Yet many have a downer on him as he came into the side and we finished the season so poorly. Which I totally get. I’m confident he’s another who’ll come good as it goes. Think he’s one of a few lads who Clarke might get a tune out of that Collins couldn’t.
