The worst comments about a player that I've ever seen on this board, came from you Phillip.

    Practice what you preach.

To be fair if he'd taken a couple of steps off his line and been a positive keeper he'd have either claimed the ball or we'd have got a foul on the keeper like we always get and Wolves wouldn't have had the shot in the first place. He's a good keeper but it's frustrating how many goals he's let in recently inside his own six yard box. It's over 50% of them in our last four games with the 14 we've conceeded. Keepers get super protected so I don't know what he thinks there is to lose by taking a few steps and grabbing the ball. Why leave it for a defender to deal with when a keeper can safely come use his hands?

How do you know it was not nice? All you can say is "There must have been something said." So how do you know it was not nice?

I actually hope the OP here is just after a reaction because if not I am actually worried for your sanity. I can't believe anyone who has watched Barnsley over the last few years thinks this. Steele is one of the best keepers in the division, I will admit he can't kick but personally I think that is all that has kept him from being snapped up by a better team. That is a compromise which is more than worth it. What's more he seems to actually care about the club. Get a grip you clown or find me a genuinely better alternative that we can afford, and you will be searching a long time because such a person doesn't exist.

I'm starting to question Steele's ability. He seems to be parrying far too many shots these days which once upon a time he'd have caught. The first goal yesterday should have been turned around his post, so should the first and third against Bolton.

I disagree over his kicking, Steele only makes a poor kick if the ball is played back to him under pressure, and his kicking hasn't once cost us a goal, so we can't have tpp many complaints in that department.

I still think he's a very capable goalkeeper, dropping him isn't an option as he doesn't have much competition in Alnwick so i'd give him a new contract and maybe bring in an experienced head in the summer to give him some competiton, maybe someone like Stuart Taylor at Reading?

Just like Sheffield Wednesday at home when the ref blew up for Madine running into Steele, oh no that goal stood.

Dropping Steele won't improve the defence. Signing and playing defenders who can actually defend improves defences.

A keeper is only as good as the four in front of him.

Steele has never been the best kicker of the ball but as a shot stopper he is up there will the best in the league.

Remember you don't play a keeper to kick the ball.
