Last season, and a 50% reduction would be 125k a year. Still huge amounts of money mate for kicking a ball around. Now don't get me wrong if they can get more elsewhere fair play to them and they leave with my full support as two of my favourite players and top people. But to call the figures derisory is getting all a bit Cashley Cole for me.

I want Luke to re sign

However I refuse to accept the premise that we want shut of someone, but then offer them a contract. We didn't do it with Steve Foster. We didn't do it with Marlon Harewood. Both of whom are favourites of the fans. But, apparently, we've moved the goalposts, as it were, with Luke & Bobby! If others choose to believe that, or insist that's what has happened, that's up to them. Can anyone point me towards the proof that David Flitcroft would be party to such goings on, as I've not seen any indication of it whatsoever in his managerial style and approach? I think the manager would be up front and honest with the players if he didn't see a place for them in his future plans, as he's done with the other lads out of contract. Perhaps the club has been somewhat cumbersome with their initial contract negotiations, I don't know. Nor am I aware that they've adopted a 'Take it, or leave it' stance, either.
As I said, I might well be wrong and everyone else is right.

To not retain Luke and Bobby would have been a PR disaster, this way, the club can wash their hands of responsibility. BFC likes to think it is in touch with the wishes of the fans, but on this it clearly is not.

You said no one was on more than 5k a week. That's £260,000....

    I don't get you, pal.

Ark quoted a quarter mill. Not me.

I merely stated that 'had' that been the salary offered, course they'd have signed by now.

He implied they were earning that kind of coin, or even half that. I think differently.

I think we need an experts opinion on this and given that the one day cricket international between England and New Zealand has finished on Sky Sports 1 i believe we will get that opinion shortly.

Re: I know I'm probably in a minority of one

I just assumed that someone must have been on close to 260k pa for you to quote the 5k. Since Steele is our highest paid player then that must have been him. Even with a pay cut he can't be too far short of a quarter of a million which is what I meant.

But if you think he hasn't even been offered half of that that's a pay cut of over 50% which I don't imagine the club would do for one minute.

Which part am I wrong about? The initial wage or what's been offered?

    Or both?
