Just been relegated to League Two. I’m not a big fan of Thomas, but I would’ve thought he’d be capable at League One level.

Note it says competition from AS Nancy. Is this the strategy for our players that fall down the pecking order? If we can't sell them and if we are able, ship them off to a ConLee Consortium club?

If Red Bull can do it, so can we. Small acorns and all that.

Do countries on the continent have rigorous expenditure controls in place?

Why don't the managers of Bristol Rovers and AS Nancy fight for his signature? Oh wait a minute....

Off the books due to the owners onky having an "interest" in those clubs. Very good way of working, all are separate businesses / concerns so provided all are being run properly (Uefa / Fifa) definition they're fine to do so.
It love this model of ownership, gives the owners options and an ability to have more lads to develop. The transfer market is a giant con anyway, so why not try and game the system.

The reason I asked, if nobody wants to give us money for players that we are trying to move on, they are either crystalizing the loss in Barnsleys accounts and reducing our capacity to recruit, or increasing debt/ reducing profit.

If they are getting an overinflated transfer fee to Barnsley to subsidise the poor recruitment and impending loss, they are generating additional loss at their other club and reducing the resources they have available.

Someone somewere pays the cost of a player not making it.

I actually had a quick scan of the article to see if there was any other names mentioned and missed that one.

Yep we could make a loss on the fee but move the wages. Obviously the signing on fees would be eaten. But in Thomas' case I think this could be more about putting him in a setting to get back his form with a gaffer who's really supportive and full of energy. Think he'd do wonders in Nancy under ar Dan. Increase his worth and confidence all in one go.

Needs to be playing regularly again, for his mind as well as his football fitness/ability.

Not too keen on him as a player for us at this level but I’ll wish him well, as I do with most that we sell.

I'm also not sure we should be shipping a player to a new country who admitted they were struggling last season. We owe a duty of care to these very young signings, and I'm not always sure we do our best.

We may save some wages, but if you add up McGeehan and Thomas transfer fees, thats a big old chunk of change that is either written off in our accounts or someone elses.

Imagine Joey Barton battling it out and losing to a Nancy boy.

    The shame.

I wouldn't give him the steam off one of my fresh morning turds. I would be disappointed if we did any business with any club Barton was at after what he did to Stendel who we all think highly of.

I feel sure the player will have the final say on where he goes , the club cannot force him to go out on loan , I am surprised by your comment on saying that we do not always do our best , surely the player has an agent as well as himself looking after his interests & in Thomas"s case his dad has his back , they all seemed pleased when he left for Ipswich .

I understand what you mean but I am sure they will not go anywhere they do not want to go & will act through their agents in their best interests , I actually think the dice are loaded fairly & squarely in favour of todays modern player & the clubs do not hold the power over a player like they did in years gone by .

In Sibbick's case it ended up being character building.

We're hardly saying to Thomas that he must go and explore the Amazon basin.

Sometimes "kids" need more than wet nursing anyway.

There's more pressure being a footballer than in most professions. Some can't handle it. Not the club's fault.

Getting back with Daniel helped Toby so maybe it will work for Luke too.
