But he can't run past players like Thomas can. We have enough static midfielders as it is.

Or Phillips, or Martin. Phillips could be the new Redfearn - box-to-box; scores and makes goals; takes a mean penalty. Would like to see Martin flourish too, but Thomas will be a miss if it's true.

    I demand a club statement. Where's @SuperTyke when you need him? :).

Disagree with that, I don't think he'd be as direct in his play, but in this league I think he'd definitely be able to do it if he's in the that position - I think his final ball & decision making is better than Thomas' too (so far). Often times Thomas should have shot or played an earlier ball, I think Aitchison will make better calls at the minute. I do think Martin will start though mate as I'm not entirely sure if Aitchison is fully fit. Martin was partially at fault for the goal we conceded to Port Vale (iirc) by not tracking back and chasing play, no risk with Aitchison there, but the cameos Martin has had since he does seem impressive doesn't he

I agree. Aitchison can ghost round players due to his footballing brain. The winner v Fleetwood Aitchison started the move just inside our own half. He isn't pacey but covers the ground he needs to. A really good attribute to have. Thomas has charge and is direct but I don't think even he knows what he's doing with it at times.

I agree bud. And with Thomas time is definitely on his side, the more experience he gets the better, especially as his confidence grows, it's important positions he's getting in, he sees space really well and carries the ball at times with ease past players, it's just that final decision on what to do with it he needs work on, but he's really pleasantly surprised me with how well he's performed so far under Duff

None of these players are without merit or foible.

I just happen to think that pace on the ball is the crucial difference that Thomas can bring. Most times he disappoints however. Which is why he plays for us.

I like Luke seems a great kid and glad he’s got himself in a better mental space but I do think we have multiple options to replace him who might supply a better end product.

Do we know if this is true? Gutted for him if so. He’s been a revelation recently.

Thats not good news. Been playing really well.

Maybe stick Benson in Thomas role and bring Connell back in next to Kane. Or straight swap for One of the two new lads.

I would believe it's true, but it's a shame we know about it. Something like this you'd like to think those in the know wouldn't spread it about until it's official. Not just because it's the right thing to do but because it helps Exeter out. You can bet their team hotel have got wind of the news.

Reakon martin and aithinson could fill the gap untill hes recovered from whatever injury it is but he been good so far this season and i only expected him to get better as the season went on. Lets hope its not too serious.

Bloody hell, you’re acting like it’s the world cup final. I doubt anything will change for Exeter whether they think Thomas is injured or not.

Of course it will. The opposition finding out one of our key players in our recent good run is missing will give them a boost and could change their plan. The news of the injury shouldn't have come out until 2pm for the team news. Going to a busy waiting area at the local hospital it was always going to leak.

He’s just a footballer. He goes to A&E like anyone else if badly injured. Anyone can see them, so no secret. Only top Prem Clubs can do it all privately.

Remember when Klinsmann went up that time for a broken Jaw!

If it's just a broken ankle, as some have said on here, he'll be hoping to return before the end of the year. It's not that bad of an injury. 12 weeks maximum, 8 weeks if you're lucky. Depends on the severity and quality of care/recovery. He'll receive great treatment and rehab and I'd expect him to be back in full training in December.

If it's not his ankle and it's something further up the leg then it's a different story.

As you insinuated I'm daft, I'll bookmark this and refer back to it before the end of the year...
