I'd say on average a hour to 1hr 15 mins. Probably cut 25% off my normal journey, it's not fully open yet so it stuck at 50mph for the next few weeks. I'll get a better view of things when l'm back in January, hard to judge around Xmas.
to be honest i've never minded it being slower. it's the stop start that does my head in. if everyone just travelled at a constant speed we'd all be fine. all cars should be fitted with adaptive cruise control
They'll have to get it sorted in time for the 40,000 reds fans on the way to Wembley for the massive cup final. Ok, so I exaggerated a bit..... but which bit ???
Been longer than that hasn't it? I've been with my missus from Leeds over 3 years now and I reckon there's been roadworks on that stretch as long as I've been driving between Barnsley and Leeds. Think we noticed at the weekend that the cameras were no longer there. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Gi'oer, read it again. This is through a Smart Motorway where the speed limits 50 in peak times, not when the motorways at the normal speeds.
I know what it is, I work on them. Seen no end of accidents caused by people hogging the middle lanes. Most of the time when the traffic stops and starts again for no apparent reason is usually caused by people hogging lanes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm talking about during the peak time when l use it, its impossible to hog the lane due to the amount of traffic on it. Like l explained during my journey this morning, all the four lanes were going the same speed, we all had a car 15-20 yds in front of us and one behind us, nobody could change lanes otherwise you'd cut someone up. So how am l making it dangerous staying in my lane?
Oh right, I take it back then. When im on my way to work at 6-7pm its usually pretty quiet but you always get people just sat in the middle/3rd lane with absolutely no reason to be there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
35a down to meadowhall is at a standstill every morning Edit: this was before they started work on it
Theyll be set higher than 70, infact they dont work when there isnt a limit restriction as far as I know Sent from my iPhone using Tapata
Good advice, however you are legally allowed 10% +1%of the spec limit whatever it is. So in a 70mph zone you could do 70mph. This is to allow for speedometers not being 100% accurate
The 10% + 2mph is an ACPO guideline not a legal requirement. It's up to the individual police force if they want to follow it. Thankfully, the majority do. http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/p_to_r/road_traffic_offences_guidance_on_fixed_penalty_notices/ Speed Enforcement The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has issued speed enforcement policy guidance, which suggests that enforcement will normally occur when a driver exceeds the speed limit by a particular margin. This is normally 10 per cent over the speed limit plus 2 mph. It also sets guidelines for when it would not be appropriate to issue a fixed penalty notice but to issue a summons instead (see below). Note that these are guidelines and that a police officer has discretion to act outside of them providing he acts fairly, consistently and proportionately. Speed limit: 20 mph ACPO charging threshold: 24 mph Summons: 35 mph Speed limit: 30 mph ACPO charging threshold: 35 mph Summons: 50 mph Speed limit: 40 mph ACPO charging threshold: 46 mph Summons: 66 mph Speed limit: 50 mph ACPO charging threshold: 57 mph Summons: 76 mph Speed limit: 60 mph ACPO charging threshold: 68 mph Summons: 86 mph Speed limit: 70 mph ACPO charging threshold: 79 mph Summons: 96 mph
