    Macken is not the problem

God some fans on here. I agree that we need a striker. But making Macken a scapegoat isnt really fair. This guy gives 100%. Id rarther have him than Deon Burton. Macken will not score more than 12 a season but his workrate is top notch. Get someone in to play alongside hume who will score, but we need to find 1.5 - 2.5 million to get that striker unless we pull a foreigner out of the bag but that is a risk. Its easy to say we need this we need that but like andrew lodge keeps sayin, we aint a top drawer championship side to excite players. We are low on the list. Im 1000000000000000% barnsley but reality tells me that we aint a big club in this division. We cant splash out millions for a proven goalscorer. Best think about it is that if macken scores 5 in the next 10 games he will be hero forever in your eyes. Fickle fans. Everyone entitled to their own opinions though

    I totally agree

Just commenting on the Macken chance because the thread's about him. Hulme should have buried his chance but I get the impression Hulme was surprised he got the ball and was almost expecting to be flagged offside - but he should have made sure and buried it !

Looks like he's lacking in confidence

Youcan see that in the warm up- when they have shooting practice. He's a very clever footballer - look at the way he as alert for the chance for Hulme's goal against Wednesday. As for resources or lack of them I agree - look at the two strikers that Bristol brought on - Maynard and John. Not that they looked much kop!

Get Behind him not at him

i like macken, get off his back guys. liverpool red is right. its a confidence thing with him. macken needs a goal or 2. Remember last season when he didnt score for ages then they all come at once. The stoke game stands out. They will come Macken, you keep your head up. I stuck up for darren moore all season and look at today, he's winning them over. Get behind em not at em.

Agree with the macken bit. Hume needs a class act up front with him and macken is not strong enough at championship level anymore.

Looking at Hume and Macken this season at Oakwell which one should retire because neither have any pace.

Macken controls the ball and holds it up better bringing other players in to the game whilst Hume is the better finisher at the moment.

Message to Simon you are allowed to substitute million pound players.

    RE BFC BUB

we played 4-5-1 with campbell-ryce in the free role behind macken for a good 60 minutes!!!! Which was the CORRECT decision, we getting passed off the park playing 4-4-2 De silva and Colace were too deep which lead to them having too much time on the ball and looking dangerous (First 20mins), Davey send Hume out wide JCR drops in and all of a sudden we look a different team with JCR picking it up in the middle and doing all the chasing. Granted Hume is NOT a winger and on paper it may look defensive at Home but we looked far better/dangerous when we played like this. Thats what we had to do to change the game, this won't work every week and shouldn't be attempted to but fair play to Davey he was spot on with that. Only problem was after settling to this formation, we had to try and win the game which in my eyes the only way to do this was to stay as we were but instead rightly or wrongly Davey brought Odejayi and Rigters on and i don't think we looked quite the same. A decent point anyway and on another day would have been 3.

    Roll on Tuesday!
