Think they do double sessions Mark, early morning and late and thats why you will see pics of them doing thing in day but by what they said on twitter/other media it was very hard work.

Not 100% sure youth are going but sure i read it somewhere.

Phil, its bloody hard work even walking around in those temps!, If they are training early then they need to be done before 9.30am and not to start again till after 7pm.
I cannot see how training in such conditions will help them in Barnsley during December!!!

    Its a fact it helps.

They (footballers) say the first 2 weeks of pre season is the hardest of the season.

to me it must be like marathon runners, they go distance running high up where airs finner. Blood gets used to it and when they come down to normal levels there blood gets more than enough oxygen and they feel fitter and can run faster for longer. Never been to malta mark but been to kenya Thailand mexico where its hot.

Yes everyone goes through basic fitness training. I was in a regiment where we had to be extremely fit and fitness was part of our daily routine but even then we were put through extreme fitness for certain activities. I've trained in Kenya and Egypt so I know what it's like in these climates but it was done for a reason - operational reasons. I don't see how it will benefit the fitness of footballers in England. If it's about team bonding then fine but thats slightly different to a physical training requirement.

Anyway he'll see what players think of it in about 6 weeks.

we've signed no new players so if the existing ones need team bonding then there is something drastically wrong with keith hill's management.

I don't believe it helps at all (nor does the fitness guy at a premiership team who I know) but of course the players are going to say it helps them. 2 weeks in malta or 2 weeks in barnsley? If my boss asked me where I thought the best place for a business meeting was i'd say malta even if it offered no benefits to the meeting in reality

It's good to listen to other people, experts and people in the profession being discussed but sometimes it's ok to form your own opinions about something based on your own thoughts and life experience. Sometimes there is no definitive 'right' answer, just opinions.

I know I am going to regret this, but what on earth does that post mean?
What has it got to do with going to Malta?

Also as I said earlier. Malta is far hotter than Mexico and Egypt , never been to Kenya, but I cant see what that has to do with it! It is not just the temperatures though, it is the humidity levels too.

But of course i bow to your infinite wisdom on these things, even though you have never been to Malta, you know its the place to go!
