I was there when they beat Bayern Munich 3-2, in the away end.

Apart from celebrating the goals, the home fans spent most of the game watching the atmosphere in the away end and taking pictures, it was a far cry from Maine Road.

That time we got battered, wasn't it the year we got relegated and they got promoted, when Keggy Keegle was their manager? It was actually 5-1, the 2001-02 season. Pretty sure Bruce Dyer got our goal. It was their last season at Maine Road, and they had a crappy temporary stand in the corner near our away end. I nearly got kicked out for having a massive mental rant after Dyer scored, shouting at some fans in their stand that they were "part time cnuts". Properly lost it.

The time they beat us 7-1 was in the League Cup at their new ground, Barry Conlon scored for us.

Man City are my second most hated football team, after Leeds. Living in Manchester for 15 years will do that to you.

 

Neither do I. If it was a 50k sell out they would have been praised for the size of the crowd. But because they have expanded so much people look at the empty seats. The success they have had would never have come had they stayed at Maine Road. Not sure why a sell out was expected when it's their least important competition after the premier league, champions league and FA Cup. It would be like people laughing at our JPT semi final crowd when it was our least important of four competitions too. League Cup just doesn't excite fans anymore.
