Unlucky, yes. They would have expected to win the title with 11 points more than they've ever achieved before, especially as it was the 3rd highest points total ever. Deserved it, no. Another club got more points.
The standard of the league is really dropping, some awful teams in the league. The marketing from Sky is brilliant but the product is awful.
To be fair, they shouldn't need too much of a net spend, given they got 100 points last season. They spent something like 200m last season, and that was to build on a team that already had a spine of Kompany / Stones, Silva/KDB and Aguero. Liverpool have done well to catch up the amount they have, unfortunately for them it wasn't enough. Think they need another centre half to make sure Lovren doesn't get anywhere near their first 11, and while Salah and Mane are sharing golden boot, Aguero is just more clinical.
City deserved to win it purely because they got one more point than Liverpool did. When you consider that on 1st January 2019, Liverpool were top, with a seven point lead over City, you really can't begrudge Pep G and his team their consecutive titles, because they not only overhauled Liverpools lead , but they kept their nerve and played some impressive football in the process.
