Proffered United when they had fergurson. Guardiola has had money every club he's been at. Over rated manager.

Every manager worth his salt has money at every club he is at. Most of them waste it.

Jack Grealish,,,, demonstrating that there’s ways of falling down that the average player can only dream about!

In comparison to every other club around them though, they've done brilliant. Look where United & Chelsea are. City were playing catch up too. Nobody will be able to convince me City have underperformed under Pep. No excuse for not winning CL, it's just Real Madrid's competition, and they're not far behind them in terms of spending. Now they have a world class academy I reckon they'll spend less & less, Newcastle will definitely overtake them as well as the other elite clubs. There's dodgy business at all elite clubs, look what's happening right now with Barcelona, Juventus & PSG.

I'd much rather City/Man Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea etc all to go bust though instead of clubs like Bury & Macclesfield.

City have had a better team than Real for years so failing to win the CL is fallure and they will not be remembered in works terms as a great team without 2-3 wins in an elite competition.

So we will definitely have to disagree there. If Pep leaves Citeh without a couple of CL wins he will have underperformed.

Ferguson regularly just bought the best player every season. Let's not pretend he didn't spend. If he was around today instead of 30 years ago, United's transfer spend under him would massively inflate too. Nearly 3 decades at Manchester united & he only won 2 Champions leagues. Ferguson would have to spend over 100million on a player like Ferdinand these days, 30 million back then broke the British transfer record, he often broke records. I like Ferguson but it's really unfair comparing how much he spent way back then compared to now. Clubs like Bournemouth, Brighton & Brentford spending 20/25 million on multiple players in the same transfer window, it's gone crazy. Man utd are 600million quid in debt yet still spend 90 million on Anthony, 70 on Casemiro, 60 on Martinez etc etc...

    Ferguson spent heavily too.

    30m+ on Berbatov and Ferdinand.
    25m+ on Veron and Rooney.
20m+ on Rooney and Van Persie.

Most of these were record fees at the time - the equivalent of what City are doing now.

For years? No chance. I'd say City have a better squad this season and potentially last but that's it. City definitely played better football, that's due to Pep, but imo they didn't have a better squad. Certainly not a better starting XI

He was still incredible though. Go & look at that last side he won the premier league with ahead of Man City. Smalling at RB, Jones & Evans at CB, Cleverley & Fletcher in midfield. Loads of players O’Shea, Brown, Gibson etc that he got huge performances out of who were poor when they left.

I always say that about him, average players that wouldn't get anywhere near another giants starting 11, just showed when they all got flogged they went to Sunderland or similar...

The spending over the last 10 years exceeds everyone else. They should have won 2 or 3 CL by now as they have outspent everyone. I like watching them as a team they are very easy on the eye.

Bang on. I didn’t like Man Utd due to them winning everything & the amount of glory fans they had who I grew up with but you can never question Fergie’s greatness.

Its increased since their first title, the first 5 years of their ownership they weren't on the same planet as Barca or Real. And those figures are only showing transfer fees, what about wages? Messi cost nothing but is on 800,000 Euros a week - City aren't in the top 5 for wage bill..

I think once they break their CL duck they'll go on a run with it.

Look at what he did with Aberdeen before united on a shoe string budget. Won the now spl and had them beating the big boys in Europe.

Furgerson brought many players through the academy and improved the United youth set up as soon as he went there. Butt, giggs, Beckham, neville brothers, Scholes. City have ruined many young players fabian Delph and kelvin Phillips to name 2.
And aren't city getting investigated by the premier league for overspending.

Have you seen the academy City have built? The players that started at the new facillty are now coming of age, it's frightening what they are creating.

I'm only slighty interested because my missus is a manc, my step daughter had Man City kits when she was young, with the Brother sponsor. Franny Lee was the chairman, way before any money came into the club. They've had years of torment from the United half and now they'll probably go on and eclipse them.

When my lad started being interested in football, he had a choice Barnsley or City. When l argued with the missus he should support his home town she reminded me he's half Mancunian - not like the kids in his class who pick from the league table..

He picked United anyway :D, second only to Barnsley. He's only got one United supporting uncle over there.
