RE: maybe this scenario took place?

So you'd shoot anyone who runs away from out of uniform, armed men on the basis that they might be trying to blow people up? I feel very sorry for the bloke that shot him, he probably thought he was doing the right thing - but I wonder why it took them so long before stopping him?

    no

but you're missing the point. he was followed from a suspected terrorist house and he didnt just run from the armed police. he ran into the tube station, jumped over the turnstyles and ran straight for the nearest train. you know, them trains that have had 6 suicide bombers on them in two weeks. i think they had just cause to assume that he was the 7th.

No you're wrong. All we know so far is that he was followed from a block of flats. We dont know he actually came out of the flat that was under observation.

the block of flats were under observation and he came out of them.

the important bit is that he didnt just run from the police, he ran into a tube station, jumped over the turnstyles and ran straight for the nearest packed train.

    It sounds daft indeed...

What if they had shot someone close to you?
    Better safe than sorry, eh?

Shooting random people doesn't sound like a very good solution to solve this terrorist problem...

smacks of sanctioned murder to me

there's entirely too many innocent people being shot by police all over the world because they don't conform to everyone else.

wearing a heavy coat in 70 degree weather did not make that man a terrorist, just different. did the police stop to think that maybe the person ran because he was being chased by yelling men in suits who weren't identifying themselves or he didn't speak english? what about non-lethal forms of stopping suspects?

of course it'll probably be like here, under the circumstances the shooting will be judged to be proper and murderers will be let loose on the street to "protect" the population...

Just like here in America, makes one wonder who the real terrorists are.

    Like I said.

    Understandable but unfortunate.

Equal chance he COULD have been another bomber...

He ran onto the tube AFTER being warned.

In light of recent events, he knew what the score was.

And what if he HAD been another suicide bomber and ran onto the tube and detonated? Then we'd all be blaming the police for doing nothing.

I say well done for taking some f***ing ACTION!

the police held up their badges. them big shiney things with police on them. he turned and ran into a train station, JUMPED a turnstyle, ran straight downstairs and onto a packed train that had been the subject of 6 bombings. what would you do if you were the police? wait around and just hope that he didnt have a bomb? then have to explain to 50 families why their son/daughter/mother/dad wasnt coming home?

    ~Thanks for that Acky

Wondered how long before you'd come on and mention the incident - -obviously you had to wait until it was when you could criticise the security services!

    His own fault

Kill him, or risk the lives of countless others.

Tradegy, but one life is better than 100.

    He should've stopped..

Can't believe you're trying to minimise this. "Unfortunate" !!

Perhaps he ran because three burly blokes in ordinary street clothes challenged him aggressively and came towards him.
