RE: We have a small fan base

I think we have a loyal following of about 7,000, but that's not enough to maintain Championship football. I also think this website has some of the worlds best whingers, dreamers, negative no matter what, biggest chips on shoulders you'd have thought we'd had 4 back to back relegations. We have one of the best young managers outside the Prem, but all he gets is flak. Pick Christensen this, Hassell in midfield that. Were in the FA Cup semi, FFS!!!

Couldn't it be argued that being in the semi's is down to 3 or 4 lucky wins whilst being where we are in the league shows daveys true performance as manager?

Don't think you can say its lucky wins

And the league is definitely stronger than last season, so it's going to be harder to improve.

However, I think Davey has been very naive at times this season and sometimes too stubborn. Then again, hopefully that'll improve with experience.

If our club is managed properly

And we put together a tight little squad with everyone working together then we can easily hold our own in this division. We've proved this throughout our history as we've spent more time in this division than any other club. We'll sell some of our better players for a good profit, but we've always done that. However, if we go around spending £400,000 on Peruvians only to send them back home and £300,000 on Danes only to shove them in the reserves then we're always going to struggle. I was very disappointed with yesterdays crowd, but the situation we find ourselves in with regards to the threat of relegation is entirely due to our manager, who has been backed to the hilt, and nothing to do with Barnsley supporters.

If we'd have gone out against Blackpool

do you reckon we'd be down where we are? Our away form is terrible but how many other sides have lost their best 2 players for half the season? We hammered Ipswich just over a week ago. Now we are on the managers back again. Fickle in the extreme.

    We have beaten

    Bristol City
    Watford
    Wolves
    West Brom
    Liverpool
    Chelsea
    Ipswich

There's enough wins in there against good sides to prove we are actually not a bad team. Away form and lack of goals the problem and not enough appears to be done about it. No team can win every game but just one more away win somewhere and we will probably be safe. God knows I hope so.

You can't put the entire cup run down to luck. It has showed what the team is capable of when the pressure of the League campaign is put to one side. We have the ability, but can't seem to find the consistency and desire week in, week out.

    I honestly don't believe

That our FA cup run has had any affect on our league form. Take Howard out of the team and we can't score goals and that's the reason we're hovering above the relegation places. Davey has signed 8 strikers both permanently and on loan and not one of 'em can do the business. The FA Cup run is great and I wouldn't change it for the world, but it's certainly saving face for Davey who has guided us to a pretty dismal league season.

RE: If we'd have gone out against Blackpool

We've better keepers, defenders and midfielders (when De Silva is Fit) but our strikers are absolute garbage. If we go down I hold Davey totally responsible as his striker signings have been a disaster. Even now he is saying we have strikers who can score goals....where???
The only one remotely likely to score is Nardiello. Like him or loathe him, I feel he has to be a regular between now and the end of the season as he is far and away the best finisher of the lot. His career is on the line now. It's do or die for him so give him a chance.

    Spot on.

If it wasn't for the cup run his job would be on the line imo.
