its not been the same since it went all seater fella

all the ponty faithful were split up and the songs died out to the same old boring songs as always.

RE: I wasn't impressed at all

See I've never understood why they put the family stand so close to the opposition...

One to take up with the club I suppose. Hope it hasn't put her off coming to future games!

It doesnt help when Barnsley lads choose to support Man Utd

Whatever happened to being loyal to the town you belong to? And lets face it, everytime I've been to Old Trafford the home fans haven't made a sound.

Vocal support?? 90% of what they were singing you could hardly tell a word what it was or what it meant. Sounded like 5,000 Pub Singers on an off day.

Did I also hear them sing something about '******s' right at the end? If so, that's disgraceful.

Did I also hear them sing something about people of a certain skin colour, whose name rhymes with 'triggers' right at the end? If so, that's disgraceful.

Sorry site admin, didn't realise we weren't supposed to use the 'N' word.

Must be something wrong with your ears then cause I had mates in the Ponty end that could hear most songs and what was said. I was in the away end and yeah the trouble was down to a minority of scummy scallies but no racist song was sung at all and never is. We will sing about scousers, city, leeds, arsenal but we never sing racist songs... be a bit brain dead considering a lot of our players are black as are a contingent of the fans.

As for the police with dogs and the riot police I thought it was fully justified considering what had happened at half time, I for one was embarrased at the idiots causing the trouble. Apparently a gate was opened and a few hundred ticketless fans got it, may have been different if the police had manned the entrance better.

RE: It doesnt help when Barnsley lads choose to support Man Utd

I am a united season ticket holder of 14 years and a member since 89 yet have also bought Barnsley season tickets over various years (including one this year in the ponty end) which I use when I can't get to a united away games or can't be bothered to go to Manchester for whatever reason. So in that respect I have probably put more money in the Oakwell coffers than the 5000+ "Barnsley fans" that showed up yesterday as they tend to do for big games.

The Old trafford atmosphere isnt the best, though its probably a small game you went to such as Bolton, but after hearing the lack of support from Oakwell last night I dont think there is anything that can be said about no atmosphere. Last night was a night that the Barnsley fans should have cheered on the side, been the extra man. Instead they did the couple of early songs then went quiet as they have done for the past 5 + seasons.

Do you think those morons care if you sing a song about Munich?

Course they don't. The people who it hurts are the families of those who died (some of whom came from Barnsley), and the genuine fans.

Sorry but your logic is way off.

There is no excuse for throwing bottles, ransacking snack bars etc.
There is no excuse for running on the pitch
There is no excuse for singing songs about Munich

All three are WRONG and there is no justification for any of it.

doesnt make any sense does it, the family stand should be in the opposite corner not near the away fans.

    Like I said

It doesn't help when lads from Barnsley prefer to be fans of Man Utd than their home town team. Last night wasn't that bigger deal to a lot of Barnsley fans hence the poor turn out, playing a 2nd string side in the Carling Cup isn't exactly mouth watering. I know loads of BFC regulars that didn't go last night, I didn't go but that was due to work. We've had hardly anything to sing about over the last 5 years as you'll know so the atmospheres will suffer, we can't all follow clubs that win trophies every year, but that's what being a loyal local football supporter entails.

what doesnt make sense is someone at the club thought lets build a big f%ck off away stand twice the size of the home kop that seats 6000, costs a fortune to police and is filled around twice a season

it wasn't built solely as an away end, it splits in two, has two seperate entrances and is designed to be half away/half home. It was used as this under previous control but the present lo choose not to do so

Ahhhh, fair enough, that’s o.k. then as being vitriolic amd spouting hatred to indigenous people from another part of the country is 'banter' - whereas mentioning the 'N' word obviously means you are a neanderthal planning civil disorder and carnage against the black population.

Its pretty easy to give good support when you field a reserve team and are 1-0 up after 6 mins

See how good the fans are come the day the team is like any other !
As for the 'trouble'..........a few morons same as any other away following...should have kept the bar open and got more money in.
    A riot it was not....

Its to keep the Home idiots away from the Away End

doesn't work though. I remember years ago at Grimsby a mate of mine works out that way and we were invited over. Sat in 'family' end with his mate
and the kids footie team he runs....some total nutters sat in there too...no kids !
Then again it didn't help when my brother in the Barnsley end walked down to the corner and shouts alright bro how you doing....why you sat over there?
Good job it took the next 45mins before what he had said sunk into the minds of the nutters ... close shave tho !
