Posh run things differently...I don't know if it's the same this season but I looked at them a couple of years back and they seemed to take Premier League Academy lads on loan or free transfer on very low wages.
Its an annoying thing with fans now, at most clubs. They get impatient too quickly and its a case of sack the manager/coach again!. No thoughts or hopes of stability, and trying to build long term etc.
Yeah exactly Basil lol, some sense at last. All the usual suspects are flooding the board tonight once again, with their sack the manager/coach comments. But what would the comments be like though, if he was as bad as they say, and if we really were in a relegation battle. It doesn't bear thinking about!.
We went into the play off places just after Christmas and stayed in them constantly until the end of the season....when do you think was the best time to sack him?
Clarke’s not the problem; the problem is his employers. Crass decision after crass decision. It’s no wonder two previous Coaches, when offered the opportunity to return to Oakwell last Summer, said ‘you must be joking. We have a Recruitment Team who only have one job. They have had knowledge of that job since last Summer. Clarke has constantly reminded them it would be quite helpful if they could get their finger out and do that job. And here we are - late January - and still they fail. Appalling.
I don't want him sacked, and I agree he hasn't the best squad at his disposal, but I still think he could do better with what he has. However, I find his selections quite bizarre at times; changes winning teams; sticks with favorites, despite current form; drops others, despite current form, and as for substitutions, there are more bad decisions than good,
You don't want him sacked yet listed all the reasons why he should possibly be sacked he like his team is poor.
Got to disagree with the OP entirely, we were absolutely dire today, lacked any cohesion, desire and hunger, it was so obvious we were going to conceed Stevenage are awful to play against but just simply wanted it more especially in that last 20 mins. The issue with sacking Clarke wouldn't resolve our issues whatsoever, this is the wording from the statement when we appointed a DOF "He will lead recruitment at Oakwell and negotiate contracts while working ‘with the existing coaches to create and implement a game model and coaching methodology to be used across the club"..............so sacking DC would lead to another head coach coming into the club and working under the same conditions, and that's where our problems lay, we can't apply a plan B because we've recruited so heavily on playing a 352. If this is the path the club believe will make us successful then it needs time, time for us to get players out and players in to make the whole thing better. Recruitment is everything, we need to get better at it big time but it takes time and money. Personally I'm not a fan of 1 narrative being run through the club, it feels restrictive, becomes predictable and limits your pool of players, but at the end of the day it's the owners decsion, it's their investment.
The one time that it did cross my mind, was the defeat away at today's opponents. In what was one of the last games there for fatty Evans btw. I thought ok if your going to sack him/Collins, do it now while there's still a bit of time for his replacement.
Even if it isn’t a recruitment issue (I think it is a bit) surely it’s just one of those games. I get we have had a few at home this season like that but overall with the squad available I think he’s doing well. Huddersfield have only 6 more points (and a game in hand) with a much better squad. And money being chucked at it in this window.
I understand the template of the same approach across all teams, so that the U21s can step up to the first team. The problem seems to be that we’re not developing talent good enough to step up, or the manager is reluctant to give youth a go. I presume it’s a little of both.
