    We decided on Stendel when also spoke to Struber . Board mixed but majority wanted DS. Went back for GS later.

    Like Viv Anderson? I was really looking forward when we appointed him.... Then we won 1 of our first 10 home games in 1993.

    At least we got Danny Wilson as part of the deal, and the rest they say is history :)

    No this was before we first appointed Clarke. Our main target was Strachan but he turned us down and recommended we approach Clarke. And the rest is history...

    We first appointed Allan Clarke in 1978, when Strachan was only starting out at Aberdeen. When we appointed Clarke for a second time in 1985, Strachan was a still a first team regular at Manchester United.

    The Gordon Strachan story is correct, however some people are getting mixed up on dates.

    It was before Viv Anderson got the job in 1993. My Dad was told by John Dennis that Strachan had agreed and was due at the club in the next few days.

    He then went back on his word and stayed at Leeds.

    I love it when you mention snippets of information from your Dad. Hopefully, you let him know he's still held in the highest regard by some of us wrinkly, old supporters. Love, respect and admiration to a true legend.
