The bottom line is that they were never within sniffing distance of winning the title. The club with big money purchases (for the time) like Buchan, Macari, Jordan, McQueen, Stapleton, Wilkins & Robson couldn't match the likes of Liverpool, Forest, Villa or Everton at the time.
