It's the £100,000+ a week big timers who are so distanced from the real world i cannot abide. I am as sure as sure can be that BFC will never pay any player that much a week. As long as this club keeps its identity and does not spend money it does not have then i am fine with that. Would you rather were were now planning for life in league 1 Dyson?
Premier league greed the stupid money involved in it and the parasites that cling to the coat tails of players etc are my hate. Agents in particular. However, having a quick sniff about, he appears to know football and marketing inside out. Cryne knows his salt as a businessman you don't make money of that quantity if you don't have a bit about you, someone's woken him up from his slumber as out of the blue weve gone from a board of Taylor and the don to Taylor Watkins and mansford. The next 18 months could be very interesting indeed.
Rock or Table DeeTee Agree with DeeTee that he wouldn't bring someone in to the club without a large chunk or trust.
It's not just about us and where we are. The financial bubble is about to burst for a lot of clubs and there is still the uncertainty of how the fair play rulings will bite. This is why I have time for Cryne, he's maneuvered BFC into a solvent position to go forward that other clubs are a long way off achieving. Particularly with these two new appointments. I'm very wary when folk bang on about us getting left behind. By who? Clubs that are throwing money about and achieving nothing? Clubs that we may well see ourselves leap frogging next season.
By what I'm reading about Mansford, it doesn't sound much gets past him in contract negotiations. Don't try to kid a kidder. It looks a very balanced pairing, a lot of experience between them. If one doesn't have the answer, the other will. I've got no reason to be any less optimistic than usual.
I think they're both potentially excellent appointments. I'm disappointed that Don is stepping down completely straight away though, would have preferred there to have been a bit of a transition period and/or for him to have kept his directors position even if he retired from his paid job but we can't have everything. My only major concern now is will they be working under the same constraints as Don was, coming up with ideas and having them vetoed because only monkeys and the organ grinder is the same?
Another very positive move from Lord Patrick. A Barnsley-born owner who saved us from near-extinction; a vastly experienced and highly respected Chairman; a new CEO and potentially the best management team in our lifetimes. What's NOT to get excited about??
BIG changes coming I expect, can't to see what they've got up their sleeves. Exciting times ahead....
Don was there purely to steady the ship and mind the shop. That achieved, this would appear to be the next step. Watkins has been around for a while and I think Don is staying for a few weeks, if I've understood it right. It can only be good for the club. I'm feeling very optimistic for the new season. I still want Luke to stay though.
I agree. Welcome to Barnsley, and Oakwell, to the pair of them. Now where did I put my renewal form...............?
He's just run out a line after all these anti premier league loony's have said he would be good. Whilst all these same people have done is slag the premier league off. You've bit.
