We complain about how slow our back 3 is. If you look in the dictionary there's just a picture of him in there. Fans need to realise we can't play the way us fans want us to play if we have players like Roberts in the side

Not seen him play in years since he left us, but when he left us Roberts was rapid. If he's still got half the pace he had back then he'd be absolutely fine.

If he's no longer good enough for Birmingham to offer a 1 year contract in this league, he's not good enough for us either.

Watched plenty of him this season, mate. He's still a cracking defender, no question. But his pace is gone.

I was going to say that. When he was here, admittedly it’s a fair few years ago now, he was one of the quickest centre backs in the league I’d say.

    That's a shame.

I'd still take him if the wages were low enough just for the influence around the dressing room etc. and to come on when needed. Pines is quick to help cover and Robbo and Pines certainly would not be conceding so many set pieces.

He would not be my first priority though. Rather spend the wages on a proper experienced keeper and a LB like Reece James from Fowls for example.

Yes I'd have no issue with us signing him bud. I just don't want us signing players with no pace/legs gone who have got experience, but then demand we play a certain way. It just won't work. Would love him for a year though, along with Conor.

If it is Stendel. Then Robbo and Pines would work well I think.

Going back to when we last had Stendel it was Lindsay and Pinnock and Lindsay was not quick at all but worked absolutely fine.

If we were playing Val Ball though then no, Roberts would be a disaster

Build a defence round Roberts, we need him and another centre back

My thoughts exactly mate. Hopefully Pines remains fit, I think he's going to be a big player for us, regardless of who comes in as manager

Absolutely. Need him back soon. I love his attitude too, seems a good leader and very likeable.

Yeah he's moving to a new build in the area. Not one of those eyesores on the way up to Hoylandswaine roundabout on the right though.

Why do we need him? He’s no Jon Russell

Just like Neil Thompson wasn't good enough for Ipswich? Or Paul Futcher was past it when we released him?

It's not mutually exclusive. We can still use a data-driven approach and sign predominantly under 25's, while also picking up a couple of older players on frees to complement the youngsters. Would seem like an optimal approach to me.

This would be fun. We do have a lot of centre backs already though…

We need cover for Pines he maybe fine with a full pre season but two games a week are going to be a shock to his system. Robert's would be perfect covering any injuries and coming on on to see games out, if we'd had him or similar this season I think we would have gone up

I'd rather we tried to get Marvin Ekpiteta here now his contract is up.

Roberts or Ekpiteta would be great but we won’t be signing any centre backs. Last summer’s scattergun approach has left us with too many that are still struggling to make the grade.
