name some good 'proven' choices then? Jewell? No chance. I can name 5 unproven ones that I would like. I can't name one proven one that we a) afford and b) would want to come here. Proven championship managers do not go to a bottom of the league team.
Martin Keown Not been on TV much recently......with George Graham........ok I'm making things up now.....Nigel Worthington,Lawrie Sanchez....Robbie Fowler (dunno)
Seeing as no one on here knows the salary Mr Cryne is prepared to pay And what salary is the going rate for a 'proven' available manager, then what gives anyone the authority to dictate to others who we can or cannot afford and, therefore, make a unilateral decision on whether the choice is a realistic one, or not?
My only reservations about Mark Robins are his lack of experience at this level...
and my memories of what happened last time we appointed a bloke who was doing well in the fourth division

Why isn't Jewell a realistic option? His last club was derby, a team that will finish in the bottom eight this season. I think he'd jump at the chance, Barnsley are Jewell's kind of team, workman like and honest, in a similar vain to Bradford and Wigan. We shouldn't be looking any further than this man until he flat right turns us down
