5 goals though! bloody 5 of em, we really do need to sort some kind of defensive unit out, thats 10 goals we've conceded since robins came in, i'm fearing a 6 0r 7 spanking from west brom especially now they've lost tday and will have a fresh kick up the arse and put 5 past one of the divisions faves in boro last week :)S)

As I posted yesterday, I couldnt understand how Thompson wasnt included in the starting line up aftrer his display on Tuesday night. Surely he would have been more likely to "hit the ground running" than a complete stranger to the rest of the back four??? Centre back pairings are no different to centre forwards in that they rely on each other and two strangers arent going to be as effective. Simple as.

the most striking thing for me yesterday was that the majority of the goals

came from mistakes from existing players not the new guys.

Gray was poor second half against Burnley.

    Jog on

He's been brought in to sort out a dreadful defence and after a handful of games it is still dreadful after his hand has been forced and drastic wholesale changes have been made across the back four (what with suspensions and injuries). Oh aye, he's messed up.

Can we have a dose of realism here please?

Some right pro-davey axe grinding going on here - sorry but that's all it is.

    Exactly...

Robins was absolutely correct when he said shortly after arriving that the side had to go back to basics to learn how to do the fundementals properly. Got tired watching us concede soft goals last season - so we're still conceeding them - there's work to do. Did we expect a miracle?

    Load of Rubbish

The team selection for yesterday's defence was the worst idea since Simon Davey played Coulson up front on his own just days after telling us all he wasn't yet ready to start a first team game. It was a shocking error of judgement by Robins. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the defence that played the second half against Burnley. To then make three changes to that rear guard, bringing in youngsters that have barely even met the team, two of which have next to no experience at this level of football was suicidal tactics and got exactly the result it deserved. The weird thing about all this is that the majority on here are quite willing to excuse such a terrible selection yet had Simon Davey done the same they'd have gone ******* mental as they have for the last two years over just about every decision Davey has made, none as bad as how we lined up yesterday.

For what it's worth I thought Davey should have been sacked in May. I also think Mark Robins is a good appointment and on the whole he's impressed me so far. But I'm not so blind as to realise yesterday's team selection was anything other than completely foolish and I just find it amusing that the anti-Davey lot are bending over backwards to find positives from a 5-2 stuffing when they were like rabid rats when ever we even drew under Davey.

No it isn't. But there seems to be some right anti-Davey can't-crticise-anything-the-new-boss-does sort of piffle!</p>

    It seems to me

That BOTH "pro-davey axe grinding" and "anti-Davey can't-criticise-anything-the-new-boss-does" attitudes are taking place. However, there's also constructive criticism being put forward too that falls into neither over-simplistic category, Jay's posts are a perfect example of this.
