No they didn't. We'd have got more points if we'd spent money we didn't have. Simple.

We were spending money we didn't have, hence why PC was plugging the gap and resulted in Robins being told that wouldn't happen anymore so in effect his budget was reduced. Have that.

I know. We're a prime example of spending money you've not got to get more points. Which is Robins did.

If Pompey had spent what they could afford they'd have finished bottom. So we'd have still stayed up. Or summat.

Who scored Pompey's goals in their 2-0 win over us? Norris and Kitson? Two players they couldn't afford. So make that a draw and we'd have pipped them on GD or summat.

How do yo know that? Spending less may have worked out favourably for them, different players, different results, different everything. Sheer conjecture on your point I think. Facts show that we accumulated the 3rd worst points total last season, yay for keef.

Are we talking about the Mark Robins who sold Rotherham down the swanny when he came to Barnsley, then threw dummy out of cot because we could not keep up with his money demands on loan players. Who did well first off ,then produced at the latter part of his reign, poor long ball football. Remember the dour style of play in the second part of the season. He is managing in League 1 not the Championship. He probably wants to come nearer to home. Rotherham and Barnsley are both doing better without him, and Huddersfield may be a step too far for him

3rd lowest total whilst not cheating. In essence.

Sick of people staying up because of pompy as though we cheated. Firstly they got points with money they didn't have and secondly think how bad we were towards the end when the players got complacent with us being safe. You cannot tell me they wouldn't have played better and got more points were pompy to not get points deducted.

Not really. All I state when this argument comes up is that had the Pompey situation not happened there are other factors that would have influenced relegation:

    1. They probably wouldn't have had the same number of points had they not cheated.
    2. We may have approached our last few games differently and achieved better results if we were chasing a team and knew we needed the points.

Its not a proven theory but it does raise debate about whether the points deduction was the only factor that saved us.

You could argue half the league are cheating. Maybe we should have been in the top 6. Lucky we aren't sheffield utd, it could have ended in litigation.
