Very strange. Exactly the same as saying 'the Australian/Scottish/Chinese/English/Jamaican/Spanish lad'

Not really, has anyone ever said " That white lad we signed last week"?

If the team was predominantly black it would be more likely if we signed a white player as it would be a way of describing the player. I know what you're saying but I just dont see how the word black can be racist when used to describe a black player.

Maybe in a country where being white is a distinguishing feature.

I really don't see how there could be a problem.

If someone referred to me as 'the white lad' i really wouldn't care, because It is a fact that I am white.

Why should it be different for someone who is black?
