    I have a "thin argument"

because I don't hold it against all muslims?

No, and don't try putting words in my mouth.

It's a muslim threat and you know it is. To argue differently just looks like you trying to employ your legendary pedantism to get out of having said there wasn't one (pre 7/7 of course.)

Also the majority of muslims who don't want to indiscriminately slaughter us could do a lot more to help in rooting the extremists out. As it is a great many turn a blind eye.

Surely its the "Good" Muslims who have provided the Intel for todays actions.

    Do you not think?

How do they get the intellegence?

By infiltrating groups....therefore they will almost certainly be using muslim officers to infiltrate....as you say some of the vast majority of "good muslims"

    was it necessary?

Depends on whether you want people to feel safe or not, doesn't it? Politically there's many advantages in having a scared population. They are more likely to be submissive, compliant and unquestioning of anything they are told as people's critical faculties are diminshed. They also become more patriotic and supportive of their government as they look to those 'in charge' to 'protect' them. Stigmatisation of certain groups of people or entire countries becomes easier to manage as does therefore the ability to wage war on those groups or countries. It also makes it easier to absolve governments from mistakes as people are more willing to forgive those in power for them if they recognise that there is a threat to their lives, no matter how realistically small it might be. For instance you're more likely to be run over/killed in a car accident on any given day than you are of being blown up by a terrorist bomb. Difference is of course people feel they have 'control' when crossing the road, but there's no 'control' about some nutjob blowing you up at random.

Question is, do you want to die on your feet or live on your knees?

I was just on the phone and that came up.

I think you're right mate. And this is how it should continue otherwise they'll properly go to ground and we'll be in more danger.

What's this obsession with blowing up planes?

Something I don't quite understand is the obsession with trying to blow up planes.

I know they are targetting UK-US flights, the two major infidels, but if you really want to cause indiscriminate loss of life why struggle to get bomb devices onto planes? There are much easier ways.

Airbus/Boeing could be behind it in order to get new orders foe planes in.

If they wanted to hurt the West the should go after the infrastructure

If they went after power stations. power lines, rail links etc, it would cause much more disruption and hurt the west where it hurts most - Financial.

    RE: "Disruption"?

Yes, but they could blow up the departure terminals.

Now would be a good time, as all the planes have been grounded and there's nothing to stop someone walking into the terminal with a bomb killing God knows how many waiting.

Maybe there's a certain glamour or honour in bringing down planes mid-air for these people.

This is probably a stupid thought but

How certain are we of this - our special intelligence hasnt been 100% reliable in the past - only a few weeks ago a house was stormed and people were shot because they were sure that there were bomb making equipment there.

Weapons of Mass destruction in Iraq another one.

At least a small corner of my mind is wondering whether either this is being exaggerated to be on the safe side or even more cynically being manufactured for some reason Watch for some new laws or rules cutailling freedom to suddenly be rushed through.

Final point - you cant even take a paperback book on a plane but you can check hold baggage. timers and pressure sensitive triggers shouldnt be beyond someone capable of getting a bomb on a plane.

(wheres that roundsman when you need him to explain)
