Yes you can in a plastic glass with Athletic sticker on it , saw quite a few round us , but it won’t be long before the alcohol ban ( drinking in sight of the pitch) is abandoned, so I’m led to believe
My experience Traffic management: appalling Carpark arrangements: appalling Fanzone: tiny, limited in infrastructure, but popular and a credit to the volunteers that the club expects to run it. Catering: longgggggg queues. Vastly understaffed and for the 50th year in a row extremely slow service. Programme: ****. Obviously didn't take on board the feedback from myself and dreamboy that the **** physical quality of the program was a problem as it is yet again made out of the same **** material. Content poor, hardly anything has changed since last season. Why oh why did they not ask for feedback to make improvements? Music: awful. Despite negative online feedback after the friendlies they persisted with the same dull and uninspiring theme tune options that is universally disliked. Who exactly is it who's ego is so big that they think they know better than their customers? Fortunately the players put the effort in and the manager got things right. Excellent performance and a fantastic result. Sadly, it was the only positive from the day at all. Messagefor Barnsley FC. Stop being so pig headed and actually create a way for fans to give feedback that you will act on rather than thinking you're perfect and can't improve.
About 700 in there for close to an hour. Meaning likely 1,000 total. That’s 10% of today’s crowd. How big do you think League One, and even Championship, FanZones actually are?
The only match day experience most people care about is 3 points. I’m realistic enough to understand on here even 3 points isn’t enough. Some are preconditioned to whinge. if we have good results then criticise the style of play. Or the off the field stuff. Grove street is bad, oakwell review is bad. No sponsor is bad., sponsor is bad. I’m glad I don’t have to run the club because they can’t do right for wrong!
Fanzone. Excellent. Supporters Trust run beer van serving Barnsley bitter at a decent price, quick service and plenty of other beers and cider on offer. That's all I want. The musician and compere etc were fine, like a bit of icing on top of a great chocolate cake
Fanzone, Is there any way you can get a food outlet in Loco? I took my grandson and we would have loved to stay in the zone and soak up the atmosphere but had to settle for the underwhelming East stand burgers and hot dogs and then a long sit in our seats because the club doesn't do passouts.
There is usually a decent burger van at the bottom exit of the main car park for those turning left onto Pontefract Rd - Id suggest you get your snap there as its cheaper and almost certainly better than the burgers in the East Stand ( I've never eaten an east stand burger so cant be 100% sure but can guess) and you are already outside the ground - could eat the burger whilst walking up the car park to the FanZone Just occasionally its not there but I dont know why it misses sometimes
The club run the FanZone. We just operate our little kiosk and some of the assets used are ones BFCST paid for when we launched it. The club organise Dave Cooper, special guests, live music, player interviews, etc. Their team get everything setup at the crack of dawn and then we come and set our part up about 10am ish. There’s a separate bar pouring the concourse beers which always looks to have a built in Pukka oven, which is run by the club. They also promote it to a far bigger audience than we’ve got. My supporter to supporter advice on food would be to grab something from either the van on Grove street on the corner of West/Ponte, Oakwell Sandwich Shop, or the Hog Roast at the bottom end of the Ponte car park. And bring it with you. Obviously that isn’t money in to the club, but I’d be doing that myself. We’ve mentioned food options various times but there must be complexities around it I’m not aware of. Used to be a regular stall in the early days under Stendel.
Thanks for that Loco. That's what's we'll do next time. It was the invitation to "grab a bite of locally sourced food " in the newsbot Fanzone returns post that fooled me.
Did it actually say that? I never read it this week Edit - sorry. Not certain but think someone mentioned a last minute cancellation by a food vendor. So was correct at the time of ‘print’.
We had a nice pint in the fanzone, saw friends, music on and we had a bottle of coors at half time on the concourse, enjoyed the game, 3 points, great goal and we got out from the car park pretty easy at the end. No bird shxt on my chair with some nice people sat around us. I don't want for much more match day experience than that.
It would be better if the stupid council got their fingers out and sorted the roads out on match day just pointless road shutting and jobsworths stopping people going certain ways and useless police stood about with hands in pockets.. a 10minutes walk to ground now taking best part of half hour
