Well, possibly, but in the first half that wasn’t saying much. I don’t think he was bad just not very effective, but he was good when we were defending
Obviously being a Reds fan I've travelled to watch a lot of poor games in 45 years but that was up with them today. As we move towards November I've still no idea of how we're trying to play. Can't believe we've got to third place in the League but then I look at how close the table is, remember the 'quality' of some of the opponents we've met, and sudden it makes a bit of sense. This Division is truly, truly dreadful. God only knows what would happen if we started to play! Two plusses today. That Kane goal was very special - or at least it looked it live. Not seen it on TV yet. Secondly, Orient- the fans and the Club. Great set up, very welcoming and after the train journey from hell to get here from Darlington (and again on the way back) nice to again visit a 'proper club'. Can't believe how much the ground has changed since my last visit.
Well it sounds like we upped our game in the 2nd half at least, so all in all a good point, however Collins needs to get a settled side sorted & work out his best starting 11, & what style of play he wants to implement. The slow & ponderous performances just isn’t good enough with the squad at his disposal.
Give it a rest. Most of the changes today were enforced. Also slow and ponderous has us in third. With the upheaval in terms of key players leaving the guy has had to deal with I’d probably give him a break.
I didn't think it was a poor game, we didn't play well until the subs, but Orient played some decent football and the last 20 mins was quite exciting.
I took a peek to apologise as my first thought was influenced by a gallon and a half of ale but you’re doubling down
Imho...I thought we were errrrm ...passive. Without Styles and obviously without Connell our midfield lacks ummmph. However that said we kind of deserved a point today. On a positive the French kid is looking "a player " and it will be exciting to see how he develops. Back to the game, disappointed Cosgrove was sent off as I think that 2nd striker berth is there for the taking alongside cole. I'm not convinced about any of Cole's partners so far and Coley needs a goal soon as he has looked out if sorts recently (still our best striker by a street mile btw). We also need Phillips back on his A game and then I can start thinking we are contenders for play offs or more, well together with Connell.
I reckon most people are giving him a break, broadly speaking. However IMO our league position says more about the quality of this league, than how good we've actually been. I can't think of many performances this season, where I've thought 'this looks like a top two team'. I've seen good spells, good halves, but I'm not sure I can say I've seen a full 90 mins where we've looked on it. Cambridge perhaps. Obviously being sat in 3rd is great, but I personally don't think the standard we're playing at is anywhere near good enough to finish top two. They're already starting to pull away. The biggest thing for me today, was coming from behind. Christ knows how long it's been since we've done that. Hopefully that gives em summat they've been missing.
I’m not saying for a second we’ve been amazing but the quality of the league argument I’m not sure about. You can only compare yourself to the league you are in and currently we’re third. But yeah I’m not sure about top two though surely getting into the playoffs would represent a good season following the preseason upheaval?
I'd say we've got a top two squad and promotion is a realistic aim but like you say we certainly don't look a top two team. Hopefully Collins can find a way of consistently getting the best out of our better players then I'd back us against anyone in this division.
