Been a different outcome if their Neil had played.

Absolutely this. Asbaghi totally dismantled the only thing that was working for him today (the back 3) and created more problems than just the one he had to solve with Brittain's injury. Inept.

Brittain wasn't having a good game anyway, so Hondermarck, who the club have gone out of their way at press briefings to tell us has been converted to a RWB couldn't have been much of a downgrade if he'd tried.

Have to confess, my comments are all based on commentary rather than watching the game, so there are likely to be factors involved with the players performance that I don’t know about. But on paper, bringing on Moon seemed to be a gamble, with very little reward to be gained even if it went well.

Was Vita injured? Or playing poorly? Could’ve just brought Cole on for Brittain and moved Styles to RWB where he’d played the last couple of games.

At least if Hondermarck had come on and made a mistake, there was a bit of backup in the back 3 to protect him. Not the case for Moon.

Fair enough - commentary must have been half decent though cos we were there and have all come to similar conclusions.

Vita was decent in the first half and even got wide and put a couple of crosses in albeit with the formation we were playing there was nobody in the box. He started the second half poorly though and so I was prepared to give PA the benefit of the doubt on hooking him and putting Styles at LWB even if Brittain was not faring much better.

Exactly this. Plus the central 3 were up to speed with the battle - just felt it was so wrong to throw someone in cold up against a physical unit like Gyokeres in full flow.
