All 3 play off games this weekend have been pretty poor on quality. Let's hope for a better second half!
Imho pretty even ...lots of long balls (more from owls). Midfield and defence look ok ...our strikers less effective. This looks a one nil all over, most likely a horrible mistake by someone...can go either way though. Thomas and Anderson my men of the match in first half.
Nothing to fear here. Wednesday are bang average. We need to be a bit more positive and aggressive and the game is ours.
I think we all know what will happen if we nick one. It will be brown trousers time, and backs to the wall defending for the rest of the game
Smith gave away 4 fouls within 20 minutes... let's see how many more he makes this first 20 mins of second half
Chat GPT gives its half time team talk.... When facing a 3-4-1-2 formation in football, it's important to consider the strengths and weaknesses of the specific team you are playing against. However, here are a few general tactics that can be effective against this formation: Exploit the flanks: The 3-4-1-2 formation tends to leave spaces on the flanks, as the wing-backs push forward to provide width in attack. You can exploit this by using wingers or attacking full-backs to overload the wide areas and create numerical advantages. Press the midfield: The 3-4-1-2 formation often relies on the central midfielders to control the game. By applying high pressure on the midfield, you can disrupt their passing and force turnovers in dangerous areas. Quick and aggressive pressing can limit their time on the ball and disrupt their build-up play. Use quick transitions: Since the 3-4-1-2 formation typically pushes players forward, it can be vulnerable to counter-attacks and quick transitions. Focus on quick passing, movement, and exploiting spaces left behind when their wing-backs move forward. Swift transitions from defense to attack can catch their defense off guard. Create numerical superiority in midfield: The 3-4-1-2 formation can be outnumbered in central midfield. By deploying an extra midfielder or using a diamond-shaped midfield, you can gain numerical superiority in this area, making it difficult for the opposition to control possession and build attacks. Exploit the space between the defense and midfield: The 3-4-1-2 formation can leave a gap between the three center-backs and the midfield line. Attacking players who can find pockets of space in this area, such as attacking midfielders or false-nine strikers, can cause problems for the opposition's defensive structure. Defensive organization: When facing a 3-4-1-2 formation, it's crucial to maintain a well-structured defense to counter their attacking threats. Ensure your defenders are positioned well to deal with the opposition's two strikers and maintain compactness to deny space for their midfielders to operate.
Not sure what to say about that first half. We played the ball about at the back, which we haven't done all season, Wednesday just let us keep it and retreated back to the edge of their area, but as we're so out of practice playing that way we didn't really know what to do.
What's the point of VAR? Gregory kicked him. Clearly and obviously. I can understand why the ref would have missed it but with VAR it's obvious, yet they didn't give it, so why have it?
