Still Sam Smith from Cambridge for me. He scored his first goal in fifteen games today, but that record is a possible reason that Cambridge may be willing to off-load for a reasonable fee which is affordable to us and would give them a little to look for another scorer. He is the same player who scored nineteen last season. It is Cambridge's form which has deserted them and a striker can only score from the chances created for him. Other than that, any loanees?
Just seen the replay of the pen, and probably a fair decision, but the replay doesn’t show the possible offside in the build up, and I thought Cole was bundled down in the opposite box when we had the corner. In fact, Cole will have had more bear hugs off Accrington defenders today than he’s had off his family at Christmas. If him being held back when otherwise clean through late on isn’t a free kick or penalty, then I don’t know what is. We missed Connell in the second half, and Wolfe should probably have played the deeper role, rather than Kane, who was more effective further forward. Today was actually the first game this season that I’ve been able to get to, so first time I’ve seen a few of them. I hope Cadden has better in him, as he didn’t offer much today. Phillips looks a good player, but really should’ve scored. One pedantic bug bear I picked up was having centre backs take throw ins deep in their half. They just throw it in, get the ball played back to them and they’re not good enough on the ball to whip a cross in.
Looked well offside in the build up. I was sat pretty close to it. Cadden has been a disappointment this season. We missed Connell but she would have sent him off second half so it was right to sub him. Not sure why Pritchard got MOTM when Jordan Williams had him in his pocket.
Yeah, thought Connell was lucky not to have been booked for one of his challenges before he got a yellow, so could understand him being taken off. Missed him in the second half though. Didn’t compete for second balls nearly as well in the second half
Impressed with our overall play, less impressed with our finishing, aghast at the incompetence of the officials. Oh and the weather. 25% chance of rain according to met office, snowed over Saddleworth the second we left Yorkshire and then snowed, hailed and had actual ice on the roads coming out of Accrington. Lancashire is an absolute disgrace.
Really? Hes been great recently, everyone's been singing his praises this past month or 2. His crossing was poor today for a change, he was mediocre. But far from a disappointment
Not enough assists? Hes had one clear cut chance at goal, granted he missed but youre making out he gets chance after chance. His chances created are huge
You're an idiot. A complete idiot. Lots of people thought the ref was crap today. I'm a bit on the fence about it. I thought there were three really bad decisions, but I thought two of them were decisions that the ref took after guidance from the linesman because she was too far away to see the incidents properly. But it's just my opinion, I can understand why many others weren't that impressed. However, everyone else, other than yourself, has simply stated they believe the performance of the referee was crap. Not because of any prejudice, just that on the day, she was crap. You have stated, multiple times, that the performance of the referee was crap because she is a woman. Because you're a f***ing idiot.
You're not being serious here at you, Scott? You're just commenting for a reaction from people? Hemmsy-esque. I can't fathom for one second you're being serious when you know for a fact 99% of the male referees are just as bad if not worse
Keith Stroud, Tim Robinson, Geoff Eltringham to name but three of the week in, week out most appallingly bad referees in all my years watching the game. There is no referee-ing 'promised land' in the Championship with self-centred jokers like those three there! Might be bucking the trend here but I've actually been reasonably pleasantly surprised with the refereeing this season from largely inexperienced refs. Yes, the one at Cambridge wasn't great and then last week's (who was slightly more 'experienced') was probably amongst the unfittest/least mobile I've ever seen - that one got very lucky imho in that it was an easy game to ref with a woefully uncompetitive Burton team offering little resistance to the Reds. There are only two refs so far in my view that were out of their depth, both displaying an array of baffling and inconsistent decisions, against a backdrop of being manipulated and 'played' by experienced captains on the opposing team, in a way which ultimately affected the outcome of the game, namely the Accrington and Port Vale matches refs. But after all that is said we still had enough command of the Boxing Day game to have won it easily and a score of 3-0 or 4-0 at half-time wouldn't have been been out of place in the context of all our possession and pressure. So the game could have been over really before the refereeing misdemeanours took their main hold. And we continued to spurn chances and be profligate with good possession in the second half. As worrying as the refereeing performance for me though was our lack of any depth. We basically had the starting eleven and that was it. And when Duff thought Norwood had run his race and brought him off it was almost like voluntarily having to go down to ten men, so ineffectual is what we can bring on up front. The lack of any quality in depth just shows imho what a good job Duff and his staff have done to get us to where we are. It leaves the owners with some key decisions to make over the next week or two as they are going to need to back him if they want to give him a realistic chance of finishing the job off.
He's not wrong though. You're a ******* idiot. No coincidence who you're good mates with. In fact you're probably the same person, you're certainly both ******* idiots and sexist and live in the same place.
I meant fanny in the non gender sense as a throw away one liner mate. I don't for one minute attribute a poor performance to gender. Football is football as far as I'm concerned. I've mellowed as I've got older and the result doesn't bother me as much these days. It won't matter in December those dropped points. It's May.
