I'm not reight bothered what colour we turn up in, as long as they dont expect me to buy more than three shirts a season, another 3 again this season, i draw the Line, i've always gorra Barnsley shirt on. C,O,Y,R,
At the hotel and waiting for the kids to get up, so adding a few thoughts on yesterday - Kit did for some reason seem to be particularly a problem with visibility yesterday, more than other games I've seen in person when we've worn the kit. Players out wide blended into the drab background with all the drab people with their drab accents in the drab stands. - Whether or not we go up this season will pretty much be solely dependent on how long Luca Connell is out. If anyone was daft enough to doubt the extent to which he is our best player, his absence rendered us completely incapable of playing any football at all. He also knows how to cheat, something we massively missed yesterday. Best player in the division, not even close. - Congratulations to John Marquis for breaking the world falling over record with a total of 373936182539 falls in 81 minutes of 'football'. Well done also for ditching the manbun for the drab uniformity of drab old Bristol Rovers.
I watched at pitchside and though I had no trouble telling the teams apart our players on the far side were harder to pick up against the crowd than the Bristol ones. It wasn’t the reason we didn’t win but it didn’t help
Yeh' disappointing performance from us but credit to rovers they worked hard and closed us down all game' we missed Connell today Russell looked laboured and we had no spark from midfield going forward. Onwards and upwards.
I agree that overtaking Plymouth looks a very difficult proposition now, but 9 points behind with 2 games in hand, with Plymouth due at Oakwell next Saturday, gave us a chance of catching them, without having to rely on Plymouth slipping up. Things would be looking so much different now if we'd won and Plymouth had lost yesterday. We'd have been only 6 behind them then, with 2 games in hand. Still plenty of twists and turns to come though, as you say.
It's categorically unrelated to shirt sales. I know that much. We aren't Man Utd. Playing in the black kit at Bristol isn't going to see a huge surge in shirt sales. I know that, because we have all the data. When we put out any media with a link click to the shop/tickets/whatever, we know who is buying etc etc. Also, the black shirt has outsold the other two. It was hugely popular in the summer upon release. Whilst I know that kit colours are sent to PGMOL (or whatever the officials are called) by each club, with the officials then determining any changes, I think I have the most likely answer. But again, I'm only guessing. The club orders the kits in bulk at the start of the season, with so many to sell, and then so many to wear throughout the season. I know that for a fact. I also know that Puma (or whoever) only sell in big quantities to clubs. You can't ask them to send 100 or whatever. And what was very unique about this season? We've had five different logos on the front. Particularly the red home shirt. WPCC, HEX, Rapid, Hospice, Athletic. The players also have two shirts per game. Because they change them at half time. Don't ask me why. So my guess is that we've only enough red shirts to get us through the home fixtures, so away from home we'll wear one of the other two. Unless it's a team wearing a combo of white/black (ala Port Vale). Just a guess, with some facts thrown in. Sounds about right though. Why it's happened previous seasons will be your next question, and on that, I really don't know. Genuinely though, there's no conspiracy and if it really is such an issue for enough folk on here, contact the club and someone way above my pay grade will explain I guess.
Does that mean that the shirts are only used for 45 minutes? I'm surprised they don't wash them and wear them again. Also haven't we had complaints about doing this for a few seasons when they will have had the same sponsor all season? I have a feeling that your theory isn't right but it's just a feeling. I reckon it's more to do with shirt sales but in a stopping people complaining that the shirt they bought was never used way rather than encouraging sales throughout the season
I did say it was a guess. Maybe they do wash them? But they still only have a set amount. They have also had five different logos on. So I still back my theory. I certainly back it over your theory that I'm a liar, and that it's about shirt sales. Hey ho. I do come on and try. But sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees. Or black shirts.
I told you it's 100% categorically unrelated to shirt sales. Your response was that it was more to do with shirt sales.
I thought from the fact that you said you were guessing, didn't know the actual reason, and that someone way above your pay grade would have to explain meant that you were, ya know, only guessing. Its pretty clear I wasn't calling you a liar and that I was just putting forward a suggestion that your GUESS might be wrong for reasons different to what you had given.
Thanks Whitey. Now I can see some sense in that. Certainly in our current financial situation. I'll shut up for the rest of this season on the strength of that.
I said my explanation for the kit colours this season was a guess. Based on a number of facts. But a guess nonetheless. But I did start by making it clear it’s absolutely unrelated to shirt sales. I’ll leave it there.
