I have never ever seen centre halves allow as many over the top balls to bounce in a single game in my life. It’s basic defending that you are taught at a very young age, don’t let it bounce.....were crap
Ref did us no favours there but we were poor, we looked better with 10 men. I’m quite supportive of the board but we do need to get a couple of bits of good business done as teams around us are kicking on and we look left behind at the moment.
where did I ever say any of that? I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy of some posters. I’ve plenty of ideas of things we could change and have posted that before. I don’t see how Clark can effect a pro footballer not being able to pass a ball 5 yards, or forget how to track a man etc……there’s so many basic mistakes
Trouble is our Midfield players are all talented footballers and capable of playing at a higher level but they seem to play with no tactical structure often with huge gaps.
Those individual mistakes are not on Clarke you are right. But he is the head coach and keeps picking the same players making the same basic mistakes week in week out. He's also supposed to be coaching them to be better. They all look far worse than before. The fact you accused anyone criticizing his lack of subs today as being on drugs for wanting him to change implied you were happy for nothing to change today.
Not sure what O'Keefe did apart from waste every dead ball he took and make a foul throw right at the end, he's a poor excuse for a winger
So poor all over the pitch after the first 15. No way did we deserve to be ahead at the break, but we were….time for some inspirational words from the gaffer. or not. Second half equally abysmal. Hardly found a player with our passing. Watters went off and our shape actually got worse. However, Killip was keeping us in it until an undeserved penalty. For me, their player was pulling Luca’s shirt. He slowed down and Pines went into the back of him. Soft penalty? Yes, but they’re always given against us but never for us. Robert’s didn’t even need to make the challenge. It was a yellow from me, the but by now the ref was desperate for Wycombe to win it. Then we actually played the best football we’d played all game. How Phillips did not score I do not know. Luca was unlucky. But we all knew we were going to concede late on. Not sure if I blame McCarthy as I think he was sold short. That said, he should have cleaned out the ball and the player. can we have Mads back? we need to play 4 at the back. We need 3 forwards as max will be out for a while. Humph looks crocked as well. We’re not making the playoffs and won’t go down, but we need to rediscover some pride and ability.
It’s down to that reason that it’s the coaching that worries me. After 6 months you’ve had plenty of time to get a team structured and playing in your image, even if players aren’t very good. If it’s players not listening to him, why does he persist with them? You could say it’s lack of confidence but we win 4 in a row recently. So is their confusion or a lack of clarity or conflicting messages from one coach to another. it just feels an absolute mess and the intensity we’d typically expect in our players is rarely evident. Yet somehow we’re still in contention. It’s a bizarre season.
IMO sacking Clarke at this stage achieves absolutely nothing. At a time where we need investment in players, sacking yet another manager does not solve the problem. It makes it worse. We just end up starting all over again, with lots of uncertainty and even less money to invest in the squad. There isn't enough quality in our squad, in key areas. That's not Clarke's fault.
He doesn't just work two hours on a Saturday. It's his job over the rest of the week to get them to do theirs. I'm the last person to blame the coach for individual mistakes - honestly, go back through my posts. But it's not just the odd miskick we're talking about - more often than not it's basic tactical ineptitude. And it's happened so much this season that by now if it's not being drilled in by Clarke or his coaches every single day then he has to be at least partly at fault. They're professional footballers - they can't be as bad as they sometimes seem.
In all competitions, we have conceded 15 goals in the last 15 minutes, and a further 8 in Additional Time.
Sticking with him at this stage achieves nothing either. It's a lose lose really but imo we have more to lose sticking with him. Squad is seriously lacking, that's clear for all to see, but he's simply not doing anywhere near good enough with what he actually has got at his disposal.
So many basic mistakes like already been said letting a ball bounce when defending on multiple occasions, not closing men down, gaps in midfield
