We can argue all night about whether it was a pen or not but the shocking truth is allowing their player to get in on goal from a throw in was criminal and as for Roberts he owes everyone an apology for that brain dead challenge.
As I said to the wife on Sunday, and once again putting my pedant hat on, it's not extra time, that is what you play after a drawn cup game, it's added time. Sorry.
The board have to go this whole selling / losing players and replacing them with cheap alternatives simply can’t carry on. Zero ambition to drive the club forward
Don’t worry mate, we are on the same page , they’re dreadful I’ve been saying it for yonks but …..I’m still not sure if on the level of Paul Gibbs, McNulty et al
Oh, for sure. I'm starting to have my suspicions about him, but if you put a gun to my head I honestly couldn't tell you whether I think he's a good coach or a bad one. There's obviously far too much else going on.
There are some real grafters in the team and we do our best to win but sometimes luck is against us. None of our players are trying to sabotage the team and neither is DC. I do think the back line and the mid line need more distance between themselves about 4 or 5 metres I reckon otherwise it is too easy to squeeze us into a tight area with tbh too many of our own players actually getting in each others way sometimes. I think we need to vary our set-piece kickers to keep the opposition guessing just what is coming. It’ll be a long journey back up the M1 safe trip lads and lasses. Tomorrow is another day.
Yes. It was a straight red, which can be appealed. Not sure they will. It's 50/50 on here whether it was justified so not clear and obvious mistake.
We're 2 points off top 6. Three games ago, everyone was buzzing at 4 consecutive wins and saying we'd turned a corner. Now here we are, 3 games later and it's 'sack the manager' again. Sacking a manager after 5 months, when we're 2 points off top 6, with no money as it is, would be totally the wrong thing to do for me. We can't just keep going through managers like this, hoping one will eventually work out.
Header from point blank range? He had no chance whatsoever. Don’t be led by a slow motion replay. Blame McCarthy for giving the ball away. Blame Earl for not even trying to stop the cross. Especially blame Pines for being so easy to evade as a marker that all Kone had to do was run to where the cross was going whilst pines inexplicably ran forwards towards the corner flag. We are getting worse game by game. It is January 28th and all we’ve brought in is a left wing back from the league of ireland. And blimey the lad can’t really - defend but we aren’t half better when Farrugia plays and not Gent. The decline is at this point nothing short of negligent. Flatman said they sacrificed off the field improvements in the summer to put the best team on the field. What did we get? Two on loan players from the premier league we didn’t need, a powder puff left back, two club ‘legends’ on frees - one of which seemed destined never to play and was apparently brought in to boost season ticket sales - a free ‘centre forward’ who isn’t one - and then spaffed all the budget and probably a few quid more than that on an attacking midfield player who blows hot and cold at best and who we’ve had to shoehorn in at centre forward in the main as whilst he’s a good player he isn’t at all what we needed. There isnt any more money. Fine. Don’t spend any. But they could have scratched around in the bargain bin to get us something to play up front that has at least a chance at being better than someone who can’t take chances to save his life - when his pastry ankles let him play - or a couple of players who are more midfielders or wingers - or Sam frigging Cosgrove. We aren’t allowed to play a back four it seems despite it being the obvious thing to try defensively. Only we don’t have wingers to play 4-4-2 and don’t have forwards at the club to allow 4-3-3. You get the feeling the back three and wing backs is dictated by the top echelons at the club. The trouble being nobody in that group - including Sormaz - seem to have the first idea about the game. We have a head coach who seems bereft of ideas and confidence - but we can’t afford to get rid of him, and there’s little point doing so anyway as the squad is terrible so nobody else would do that much better - and who would they bring in to replace him anyway? We don’t have one player that on current form would get in any of the top six. Connell and Phillips are declining in front of our eyes. So I repeat - this is negligent. Unless the truth is worse than that - and that it is managed and deliberate decline. Given the money that has been thrown at it, it can’t be that. So they are negligent - and bloody rubbish.
Really? Shocking statistic if right. I can well believe it though. I hope that tonight has dropped the scales down from the eyes of those who hoped that there was going to be a happy ending to this season, with this squad and this management. Some of the players are at best inconsistent, some are simply at their best not good enough. At absolute maximum, picking the best 11 and having them play for the whole game as a team, we could still make the playoffs. We've seen glimpses, away, every now and then. It's not going to happen though, is it?
There are some bargains to be had, Norwood for example was a brilliant cheap signing that added leadership and quality, we just need to be focused on what the team needs rather than chasing potential diamonds.
Just realised that he brought Lofthouse on and left Cosgrove sat in the dugout! Haha! That's top tier sh*thousery from Clarke there. Definitely two fingers up at the board. Showing them he has no options. And I agree with him. EDIT - 22:30 and still no post-match interview up on X, do you think they've sacked him? As it goes, I don't want him sacked, I want the useless, inactive board out, but the interviews are usually up by now, no?
